Beeeerd...... You're right, you gotta love it. People love characters, right? And what we've got here is truly a bunch of characters! I just finished reading the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil". I have already seen the movie many times because it's one of my "go to" movies. Why? Because of the characters. I also heard an interview with the author of that book, John Berendt. In one part he said that after that book and movie came out, tourism in Savannah increased by 42%. It actually brought a lot of tourism...and money...to Savannah! So, in my next book, I felt I would "loosely" base it around some of the characters we've come to love (and despise, but in a friendly way) in Colonial Beach. After Random House publishes it, I'll set up a booksigning event and all the "characters" can sign their autographs on page 42, or whatever, for the come here's to buy. Now wouldn't that be cool, and ultimately good for the Town? I think so. |

1 at any given moment, you know I’ll jump in with pointless observations that I can fully substantiated with my own opinions. After all I’m an old timer… a man who's had a lot of interesting experiences ... some of them are even true. And Now… the Rant… LOL, maybe we can co-author a Dramatized Historical (or is that Hysterical?) Novel about our beloved Township? Yes VN2 and Beeerd, Colonial Beach is what it is my friend! All you have to do is think about all the comments concerning empty promises, the calculated betrayals, sociopathic greed, and wonder if it’s just another freakin’ day in Paradise here in Colonial Beach, VA? And every time we have something positive to say, they freak out and tell us we know not of what we speak. It is here that some of us live quiet routine lives, the onlookers of the daily Colonial Beach routine; we go about as cleverly disguised responsible adults among too many people with too many solutions. And that is a problem! So be CAREFUL… Or you will end up in my next novel where some people grin and bear it, others smile and change it, but for some, it’s not even worth chewing through the restraints first thing in the morning. And as for the Government! Sure you can trust the government… Ask any Native American Indian. And if you look carefully about town you will see those characters of which you speak… stepping right out of classic novels. The Don Quixote types constantly in a pitched battle with windmills; the obsessive Captain Ahab’s from Moby Dick trying eternally to slay the great white whale; the shades of Great Expectations that turns into An American Tragedy… the dark side of the American Dream, the story of what can happen when an ordinary man's desire for wealth and status overwhelms his moral sense; The Age of Innocence, a work that explores the dangers and liberties of change as a society moves from a familiar, traditional culture to one that is less formal and affords its members greater freedom followed by the… The Awakening, the story might be about Colonial Beach and the changes that occur in our way of thinking and our lifestyle as the result of a summer of political turmoil; characters with visions of George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four and others, who like Rhett Butler, will be Gone with the Wind, because Frankly, my dear, they don't give a damn. So… with the Rant being over, the Meds taken, and a calm soothing breeze off the river heralding the approach of a beautiful evening… I bid thee adieu. Have Great 4th of July Weekend, be safe and have fun… and remember it can never be as bad as you think it is… because IMHO, anticipation is always worse than the actual event. |

1 As usual you are right on all. When the town runs out of intelligence you point us in the right direction. Colonial Beach is still the best place in the world to live.(almost) Thanks, keep it real. |

1 Yep! Like VN2 and Beeerd said we have all sorts of characters here in Colonial Beach. That's why I think it's so cool. And if your bored... wait a bit and something will jump up scream in your face and get your blood flowing again. Hopefully I'll be around for awhile to watch it all come together... after all my Mom is 81, my uncle Bill 90 and my Aunt Kate is 96... I gotta chance at it... LOL Have a good weekend Observer, Happy 4th of July. |

1 I left out Pee Wee and Bozo & many many others.... |

Masterscout..... You can stop lobbying for position now; you already made it thru the first cut and I'm pretty sure you'll make the final cut. In fact, I may even use you like the Che Guevara character in Evita, you know, the mouthpiece who helps explain the obvious and then windowdress it a little so the unenlightened can understand. Do you think you are up to the task? |

1 I'm wondering if 2sips will get the "and they lived happily ever after" part. But who would she end up with? Or will it be a "who shot JR" kind of book???? |
All good questions Beeeerd, all good questions. But you'll still have to buy the book. |

Lets make it a who done it like Diagnoses Murder or Murder She Wrote kind of Book: I for one love a good Mystery Novel:. I will probably end up with Bozo's Corpse. Birrrr Yuuuk:

1 I can do that... but only if I can do it like Groucho Marx, besides most of the forum arguments to which I am party fall somewhat short of being inspiring, due to the fact that neither I nor my opponent really ever knows what we are talking about. LOL PS: What's my percentage of the sales? FOFLMAOA |
Masterscout..... You're eligible to receive $50.00 every time the duck comes through with a Grant. |
P.S. What arguments? |
No Beeerd, that would be "the gloved one". |
That was pretty bad Felix. |

1 The murder took place on the 4th of July, so many people, so many fireworks, overworked PD, over cooked wieners, trash cans overflowing & no sign of 2sips. There was lime at the Happy clam, could the victim be in that dumpster? Stayed tuned for chapter 2..... Ive beat you to it VN2! |
Yes you did, Beeeeerd. You are hereby awarded one oak leaf cluster and one more e in your name. I'd probably like you better if you dropped a couple of e's and the d. |
