My heart goes out to the families. But as someone who spends a great deal of time boating on the Great South Bay, it must be pointed out that speed, recklessness, rowdiness, drinking, inattentiveness, inexperience, and many other factors are related to most boating accidents. Some of the actions we see each weekend make us wonder why there aren't more of these types of accidents as well as why there isn't more patrolling by the Coast Guard or Bay Constables, whoever is responsible.
