What sort of nonsense is this. John (Jay) Trainor sang "She Cried" but who will pay to hear him sing "Cara Mia," Unless you want to watch him have a coronary singing the falsettos. Get real guys nobody cares about the name Americans. It is Jay or David or Beau's daddy that people are coming to see. If you think you need to revive your careers by singing with a bunch of other phony oldies groups (30 year olds posing as groups from the 50's and 60's) in some Jr. High school auditorum be my guset. You will fool no one.

Jay: I will be the fan at your Pocono's concert in July with the sign: "You will be the ONLY JAY!". I think that says it all! You were kind enough to sign my wedding album with our wedding song - This Magic Moment. I will be at North Fork even if David Blatt is your name! Dan

Jay, remember me? I am watching the Doo Wop show on KCET so I thought I would contact you. Let me take you back. 1958, Brooklyn Fox, Murry the K rock n' roll show. I think it was a 1948 chevy. I'm the kid in the green suit that got your car for you after the show. I am now a drummer living in Los Angeles, CA. I have also become an avid record collector with over 5,000 lp's and I still have all my old 45's. Your music has always been an inspiration to me. I read about Jay/David's recent case in U.S. Bankruptcy Court (appeared in Newsday, 7/18/06). In addition to his troubles surrounding the use of the name Jay Black and the Americans, there are even arguments in the bankruptcy court re: whether he owns the condo he's currently living in. Poor guy!He was quoted at the end of the article saying: "I'm really angry and ill." Perhaps if all of us Jay Black fans were to contact him. it would give him some moral support now, when he's in the midst of this trial. Anyone have an e-mail address? He lives in Woodbury, NY & went to Tilden H.S. in Brooklyn, if that helps.

Jay Black is the best there is no other,John/Jay Trainor had one hit with the group and chose to leave,David /Jay came along and made the group. The truth of the matter is no one would pay to go hear John/Jay Trainor sing,What ever name David Blatt/Jay Black is the one the fans want to see and hear. I hope all is settled soon for him.

Jay the fans that grew up with you as I did, will remember you no matter what name you use. I saw you live for the first time at the New York Coliseum in 1969. You were performing at an Exposition there. Also on the bill were the Guess Who. To hear that voice of yours live, it still sends chills down my spine to remember it. No court can take that voice away from you.

Jay,
You are the best. I'll never forget your concert at Bald Hill Center in Brookhaven. Outdoor concert, you sang Cara Mia, and when you were done said-"Do you want to hear it again?" and sand the song again. What a voice. I know Roy Orbison is one of your heroes but you should be called "The Voice" not him,as great as he was.
Also, I saw you another time and you sang "Cara Mia" and afterwards said "If Frankie Vallitried to hit those notes his *&^*& would fall off!! Brought the house down.
You'll always be #1 to me-a great performer, singing or comedy and a class act.
Sincerely, Doowopernie rernie57@verizon.net
P.S.-Don't let the bastards get you down!! We all love you!!1985

Jay Black IS 'Jay and the Americans' How could one amagine 'Cara Mia' without the voice of Jay. He is a true showman who brings the house to their feet when he performs. This legal battle is such a waste of time for everyone. Jay made the group who they are today and it seem so typical that those on the outside looking are there to try to gain from Jay Blacks success! Hang in there Jay...If you do loose you case, you will come back bigger that ever!!!

If you haven't seen JAY do Caramia on the PBS schedule, check you TV listings. Truly amazing performance from a very classy entertainer. And, he's in his mid-sixties! He oozes cool and I'm anything but gay.

I don't know if he lost the rights to the name in bankruptcy court or not, but, yesterdays Long Island paper Newsday had an ad for the coming season for the North Fork Theatre, nee the Westbury Music Fair, just said "Jays' Back" with his picture. Actually, that's all they need to do to sell the joint out, he's that popular here.
