these cops are the same ones who patrol the roads pulling over speeders and telling them of the dangers of driving fast and carelessly...........you'd think they would heed their own advice.

I would venture a guess the crash at 4:15am involved alcohol.

My condolances to the families, but people die in car crashes everyday. Why if they are cops do they get special attention. A police officer is just another working man.

"Exit 58 in Islandia at about 4:15 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle, which clipped the rear of a 2000 Ford Explorer,"

Sorry folks, but rear end collisions are always deemed the fault of the driver to the rear. DWI anyone? Course not, will be covered up, and Mr. Cop will be deemed a hero...albeit a dead one.

Let him rest in peace and his family mourn. Cop or no cop let a man die in dignity and his family receive the same respect.

The reason I am so hard on him is because these are the same people who ruin lives by ticketing people left and right and agressively busting DWI's yet when they do the same we are all supposed to look the other way. So yes, I am holding him to a much higher standard of accountability.

Oh and I know people will say to me, that I do not know what happened that night...this is true, but 4:15am, clipping the back of the car in front of you ='s poor judgement, likely impaired, and who nis normally on the road at 4:15am? Shift workers or people leaving the bars. last I checked, cops don't get off shift at 4am

I am saddened to hear of the loss of these officers - certainly neither of them deserved to perish. My condolences to the families and friends who mourn for them.

As for the reason why it happened, and if it was preventable - only after the reconstruction will we know. But I am upset that it seems no one was wearing a seatbelt, and based on the visual damage to the vehicles, it is obvious excessive speed played a factor. And out of curiosity, how much traffic is on the road at 4:15 AM? Was this accident due to a mechanical failure of the car, or a sleepy or distracted driver? Was it a case of DWI, or just bad luck? I don't know, and I'm not going to guess. Whatever it is, the families of these officers have to live with it now. I hope it was mechanical, because if it turns out to be a DWI or distracted-driver related, then that just sets a very bad example now, doesn't it?

We shall see...

"Last you checked" ????????? What do you do? Call the pct nightly to inquire about shift times??? Could he have been working a special tour? How about leaving after working some OT processing an arrest? Or perhaps pushing an otherwise idle sector car for any number of reasons? How about a whole variety of reasons? I don't know and my point is neither do you so go watch another cop show and keep watching till you get a better understanding!

Cops, firefighters, and military personnel will NEVER be 'just another working man' when the number one thing they do is choose to sacrifice their lives for someone else, often times a stranger. They deserve the extra attention, even when they die in an 'everyday' car accident.

{And yet...they are "Shitftworkers", NO? Maybe there's a "shift" the almighty Max is unaware of?}

He also writes...

AND..

Well?! Which is it Maxy? Make up our minds?!
And while you're at it...why don't you show some respect instead of your ignorance?

May both these Officers Rest in Peace & God Bless their families.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Gemini

Beware of taking on too much because it will be an effort to get through it all. You might even have to give up the unequal struggle, which won't do much for your ego or your reputation. Be especially careful about this if you're at work because a certain person may try to take advantage of what they see as your weakness or failure to deliver the goods.
