Hey for all you people that vote no, then please let me borrow your credit card. This man was supposed to be our Sheriff. He was supposed to honor an oath. How was he even eligable to be re-elected? Who's job was it to prosecute him and why didn't it happen? If an ordinary person would of used your credit card 47 different times, they would be facing 47 felonies. Is this what we want to teach our children, that you can't even trust the police or any other authorities? How crooked is the system in Middlesex? We even see the social services is under some heat.

I would like to see comments from the people that voted or votes no. It would be kinda interesting to see how you would to support a person that would steal from a county he swoar under oath to protect and to serve. Care to comment?

With all the no's, I would of thought someone would of shared a comment on why you would support a person that stole from our community. Would you use the excuse that he paid it back? The problem with that theory would be, most crooks get jail time as well having to pay restitution. This didn't happen once, it happened 47 different times. Maybe it is a story for CNN or the Attorney General. I would be curious of what they would say.

Do you not read the local newspaper in the county? Whether it happened 47 or 10 times really doesn't make a difference, it happened. If it didn't happen the supervisors would of never took the credit card for misuse of funds. Not to mention the time he allowed a drunk driver go just because he was a fellow deputy. He signed up for a oath, not to be bias to his buddies.

What makes it right for a person of law to be able to do this? Anyone that steals from another should be held accountable for their actions. And we wonder why the children of today's time act the way they do. Guy Abbott, you are a fine example of the word hypocrite!

That man needs to be locked up and his position taken. I find it amazing that he was even able to be re-elected. I think you guys have a crooked system in your town. Hopefully you people will wake up and vote the good ole boys out. This isn't the dukes of hazzard. I also find amazing that alot of you support this type of behavior from your local politicians.

ROCKVILLE, Md.- No matter what the cameras say, some drivers are refusing to pay dozens of $40 speeding fines. Who? Police officers.

In the last eight months of 2007, Montgomery County's new speed cameras recorded 224 cases in which police vehicles were recorded traveling more than 10 mph over the speed limit, according to department records.

Supervisors dismissed 76 of those citations after determining the officers were responding to calls or had valid reasons to break the speed limit.

But that left 148 who didn't have that excuse, and about two-thirds of those citations haven't been paid, said police Lt. Paul Starks.

The police union says officers shouldn't pay because the citations are issued to the owner of a vehicle, in this case the county, and not to the driver.

Police Chief Thomas Manger doesn't buy that argument.

"We are not above the law," Manger said. "It is imperative that the police department hold itself to the same standards that we're holding the public to."

Manger said officers who continue to ignore citations might be disciplined.

That's what I want to know? Did he uses it for something that benifited the community or did he use it to by something for himself and his family? There is a big difference there. Wasn't it this very same board who spent over 40,000 on a SUV that they don't even use because they basically don't want to be seen in a station wagon. I know that a lot of state workers have these credit cards. A lot of them are a lot less honest than Guy. Why don't we see what they bought with them also and while we are at it, how many personal phone calls are made on cell phones and pagers that are paid for by the state. Man,I would hate to get that phone bill. There is a lot more going on here than just what you see and if you really want to get angry, these are the things that you should be concerned about.

Oh yes, he used the money for his own personal uses, that's what misuse of funds means. I'm not afraid to speak out agaist him. I've had a few dealings with him since he has been sheriff and let me tell you he isn't all that. When I first met him he was very aggressive pointing his cell phone in my face and screaming at me when I was the one that called for his support. He needs anger management. And some of his deputies can use some too. They come like a bunch of storm troopers instead of trying to solve the problems or to calm a situation down. I also see that the police buget sky-rocked since he has been in office. Maybe I should also post a link capture on video of his fine work at the Christmas parade leaving when there were kids on 4 wheelers trying to get back where the parade started. He sure wasn't concerned about the safety of those children. What a loser he is and he should just step down! Let me guess he will come arrest me for my freedom of speech. I'm not worried, I can also get a bond :)

can you prove it? No, because it did not happen. you just sit around posting bogus and slanderous statement against an honest public servant who was apporved from the voters. go crawl back in the hole you crawled out of.

You must not be from around here, nor did you read the local paper. If you did , then you would of known about this during the elections. BTW, the only reason he was re-elected was not many people even voted. If I was slandering his name, then I invite him to file charges against me and we can see how Middlesex tries to cover it up.

I think anyone that breaks the law should face consequences, no matter if they are a Policeman, Judge, or the President. People elected in office are sworn in under a oath!!!

what on earth is this guy talking about. There has been no fraud. If the credit card was used, it was done so in a legal way. Where is the proof? It sounds like some folks have too much time on their hands.

Why was there such an issue during the elections about the credit card fraud, documented by the Southside Sentinel, if Abbott had not violated a law? Maybe the other controversial subject: Policies and Procedures, had something to do with why he got away with his law breaking actions?

Wow, this is starting to heat up a little, I wonder if the poster SherDep is from the Sheriff Department of Middlesex Or Maybe Guy Abbott himself? Who cares!

Anyways, what does that persons child support or license have to do with this topic? If you are really from the Sheriff Department and you feel that this person has broken the law, then I would tell you to do your job and arrest him instead of wasting taxpayers money being on this site.

I would also like to share with you that I was riding with a friend of mine on Rt.33 and my friend was speeding 34mph over the speed limit through an active school zone. Of course the deputy pulled him over, called the driver by first name and then he asked for his license and registration.

They were speaking as they new each other from the good ole days. When the officer returned from his car with the ticket, he told the driver he did the best he could do to help him out.

Do you know my friend only received a ticket for speeding 69mph in a 55mph instead of 69mph in a 35mph school zone. Most people would of received Speeding and reckless driving in a school zone.

These posted zones are to protect our children, but it doesn't do no good if the police don't uphold the law. I guess it's not who you b--w it's who you know in this department.

I guess this is the policy and procedures we have. I think some changes need to be done, quick!!!

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Taurus

Keep calm! Your emotions are becoming increasingly heightened and intense today. As a result, you're likely to take things much more seriously than usual. That's wonderful if you're involved in a hot and heavy encounter with Mr or Ms Right, but it won't be such good news if you go overboard about silly trifles. If you're doing some last-minute shopping you'll want to be as extravagant as your budget allows. Or is it a case of Budget...? What budget?
