There are different styles and you really cannot measure them all in the same kind of talent just as you cannot measure them in the same genre. Nelson Vanderpoole has the most unique guitar picking style I have ever seen.

Ash Wednesday are good but could not hold a light to Pompeii Road: Nick Floyd, Eric Davis, Matt Kessler, Joel Morris and Joey Kelley. Jeremiah Floyd is a great musician and all around great guy.

Aaron Isaacs and Bobby Griggs are good musicians and no doubt anyone that has heard them 2 play together know they can shred and would go somewhere if they would quit dallying.

Mischief was great. Are they still around? Jerry Parsons is a well rehearsed musician. Leonard Crank could play a mean guitar. I can spend all day writing names of excellent musicians around here but most names I don't know. I have seen alot of pickers and they deserve the recognition they get sadly most of them do not get it.

Joey Kelley is definitely the best songwriter in this town. His music is genuine and cuts to the bone. And his words are antidotes to dealing with life. He's definitely my pick....

Even if he wasn't my big brother, Joey would still be my favorite singer, songwriter, guitarist, and drummer. There will never be another musician in Estill County able to outshine him in my opinion.

Just wondering... did Pompeii Road ever do anything more than the thing at the high school where you had to donate canned food to get in? They were good, but in my opinion, they weren't that great.

Pompeii Road could have went far but Kessler had an attitude and a girl also helped in the demise in them.

Joey Kelley is a great musician and song writer. He can play guitar, drums, bass, sing and write.

Word around town is that joey kelley has built a recording studio in his home, im sure its a sweet set-up knowing him. He always paid attention to details and he was the only one of 'us' that would spend hours talking to the engineers and listening to the tapes over and over again in every studio we went to. Im looking forward to working with him again.

I hear Joey bought a home recording studio and is bringing back his old friend, bandmate and the person that he looked up to as a drummer. Joey has alot of songs written and they are gonna record everything themselves and if they play live they will have other musicians fill in. Joey is excellent and there is no doubt if he can get the right people he will be a rich rockstar someday. GitRdone Joey.

He has built his own recording studio in an extra bedroom in his home, and is offering very reasonable recording rates to those interested.
