As soon as October, there will be a recall election for school board member Shannon Hiller. As you may know, he was one of the two chaperones on the infamous Mercer class trip this past spring. Has anybody heard of additional candidates stepping forward in hopes of filling Hiller's position?

I was a resident of Mercer for most of my life and am still a resident of Iron County, but don't have a vote in this matter. It makes me very sad to see my hometown so divided over this issue... the hatred that is flaring in posts such as several of those above is just a small sampling of how this issue has been tearing the town (and my alma mater) apart. I just pray whatever comes of this election...that there be peace above all. None of this has been good for anyone involved. And it needs to end... soon.
