Huh? Reagan tripled the deficit. The first thing he did as president was a big tax cut for the wealthy. That turned out so badly for the economy (sound familiar?) that he raised taxes ten times, but never got the deficit under control. Dick Cheney bragged that "Reagan proved deficits don't matter". Really? I think he meant, deficits don't matter unless a Democrat is in the White House. Reagan also gave amnesty to 3 million illegals, and funneled arms to Iran. And helped create al Qaeda, arming Afghan rebels like Osama bin Laden. He was America's sweet old grandpa with Alzheimer's, and conservatives are sentimental about him - everything else is crazy talk.
