Are they not a law saying that workers get a certain amount of time before the job closes like this? Some reason I am thinking it is like 60 days but I could be wrong. Too many jobs are closing at the end of the day and everyone just looses all benfits.(This happened to me and it was sad for us all. Some had just bought a car to get to work, some just found 'high priced babysitters" for the child, some just bought a house. And knowing they were goin gto lose them all was hard to think about.)

If a store or business just closes they often dont have control or previous knowledge. Its not like Freds currently closing. It doesnt slowly close and then disappears. In these cases it closes when they are told it has to close.

The workers most likely get some sort of comp but it would be hard for a business to tell their workers if they dont even know themself.

Sorry for your loss. The food was horrible and the place needed to close. Be on the watch for another Lincolnton hamburger joint!! Such a redneck town!!!!!
it Did need to be close i look for a golden corral maybe coming i have a feeling that center wont be empty for much longer on that end in that is to much land to go unused. but i don't agree with people calling my town a redneck town that is just uncalled for and small minded the way i look it this is a way for Lincolnton to potentially be lead to some progress with something that need to close closing.

I just watched the WSOC-TV report on this and at the VERY end the reporter slipped in something insanely mind blowing...

Said another local merchant who was currently opening a resturant was already ready to open a SECOND LOCATION once Ryans was cleared out.

....L-Town Grill....and that mexican place behind Bilo is the only two new resturants I can think of that is currently in that "opening" phase .... so makes me wonder do we have another resturant coming to town we dont even know about yet?

Btw, I agree, I dont think we are redneck either too many examples around town point to why we arent.

I don't think Ryan's should have closed. My family enjoyed the food there and have wonderful memories there. My little grand children enjoyed getting to get their own plates at the buffet at Ryans. The people was very friendly unlike alot of resturants. I also think it is unfair when people from some where else comes to our town and calls it small and us rednecks, is only acting out on where they come from and was raised. If you don't like it here then maybe it is time you left.
Well

They might of claimed that Ryans was underperforming but the truth is a lot of Ryans are closing down all over the states and Ryans as a company will probably shut down sooner than later.

Its more then likely that a newer Buffet will hit either Ryans or Sagebrush in the upcoming year. Like a Golden Corral or something newer.

I'm really amazed that they stayed open as long as they did!!
because they certainly did not know how to fry chicken done.
the last time I ate there, which wasn't very often the chicken was raw!

It most likely stayed open as long as it did because it was an American Buffet and it was the only steakhouse in town since Sagebrush left and before that I believe it actually caused Western Steer/Sizzler (which ever it was called) to close down because people perfered it.

I have never been to Jin's Buffet behind Zaxbys but I gotta assume a lot of people think its just strictly japanese or chinese food and dont wanna go.

The other Steak House we have in Lincolnton is Sakura Japanese Steakhouse it is placed in such an odd location but it seems to do well.
