I think that this incident was absolutely horrid, but what's worse is the way that it was handled. Just because these boys are football players and their parents are prominent in the community, they are receiving the least amount of punishment possible. What about animal cruelty charges being filed? If these kids did this what will they do next?

I just read it in the Fort Worth Star.
I think these creeps should be tried as adults and sent to do community service with, PETA, WWF, ASPCA, and Greenpeace for a few decades. ONLY after they survive their stint in an ICU of their choice, because their punishment should be to be severely beaten and gored with antlers a few times over. ....oh and send the parents the bill for raising these monstrosities to what they are. Is it true that the school will still let them play football just only go to a different school? If that's the case, beat the superintendent into ICU, too! Maybe they'll give him a working brain there. Schools should also be run by people that haven't trashed their brains with playing too much HS football!!! |

I take it back to what I said about the superintendent. The FW star had alluded to them being able to still play. This article states otherwise. Great.
But the punishment is still far to weak!!! Penalize the parents for sure. Let them be an example to the next set of looser parents of what will happen if you don't do your responsibility that you voluntarily took on when you strapped that mattress to your backs many years ago. |

Maybe you're right about these kids. I doubt it. At 17 I NEVER took a life just for the entertainment of it. I was into video games, chasing the opposite sex, my car, etc. and not to see how it feels to kill with my bare hands. Most 16 and 17 year olds don't think of murder as a fun pastime. I don't see why you would look at thrill killing as a mistake and not cold blooded evil. Many here in this world don't go for killing as a fun pastime. Those that do usually find their way to a prison. What is next with them for entertainment? a small child's death? That's why I believe that these kids are a bit beyond help. If they are that cold blooded, then its not just about a childish mistake. Eating too much candy is a childish mistake. Not studying for a school test is a childish mistake. Not helping your parents when they ask something of you is a childish mistake. Cold blooded killing is not a childish mistake. That was intentional evil on their part. |

1 Yes, I do remember when I was 17,when my brothers were 17, and when our friends and cousins were 17 as well. And none of us would have EVER beat an animal to death. My brothers set a trash can on fire once and got in so much trouble for it that they still talk about it. That's just being a boy. Nothing got hurt except for their pride. There is NO excuse for these boys and I would Never trust then to work with Green Peace or any other Org that works with animals. Let put a pedophile to do cumuity service with a scout camp. NOT |

1 Yes at their age, you pretty much know from right and wrong. And they know they did wrong. They have been checked by a psychologist and NO SIGNS of a disturbed individual have been found among these boys...It was just a careless, stupid mistake. And just because many of you said that at that age you may have done some stupid things but "would NEVER murder and animal"? C'mon, I'm sure there was stuff done that you don't bring up because it was too bad to talk about so you let it be. There are bigger issues around the world that don't get THIS much attention...it's TWO DEER for crying out loud!! These kids are not disturbed, mentally ill, sick, or murderers...it was just a careless, mistake made by a KID!!! |

1 I can HONESTLY say I never had killed an animal. By your response, taken it that you have done this for entertainment in your past? "C'mon, I sure there was stuff done...." That statement right there, you seem to be alluding to? Pleasure killing is a big sign of mental defect. If these kids are not mentally "disturbed" as you put it, then there would be no dead deer...period. |
|||
That is not the issue...The older boys or the one or perhaps two that were the instigators should be placed in a mental ward...It is a proven fact that kids or adults that commit CRIMES like these go on to commit rape and murder. LOOK IT UP!!! You CANT CHANGE THEM> they are going to be like that for life. DO something about it NOW!!! |

1 They should tie them up in the street and whip them with canes like they do in the east. They are sick!!! get them off the street!! BEFORE they kill someone!!! |

This was no simple matter of some kids making a little mistake as you put it. Would it make a difference to you if they killed twenty. Would that seem worse to you? One was all they need to kill to indicate a deep seated mental disorder. For you to say they are just kids is crap!! They are 15 and 17, almost old even to be fighting accross the globe other boys (MEN) their age. You need to get some help yourself pal if you think what they did was somewhat okay.

It's hard for many of us to understand how causing suffering can be pleasurable. If the suffering of an animal gives one pleasure, then why would it be different for a human being? For me, all suffering makes my heart sorely ache. There may be no help for these boys, they may just be missing something inside that can never be fixed. But psychiatric intervention would be a very good idea, anyway.
The authorities have an obligation to enforce animal cruelty laws. Does seem that some in the community did not want to see their football season screwed up. |

Allowing these boys to go virtually unpunished will be a huge mistake in my opinion. When deer are killed illegally and caught by the Texas Game Warden, punishment can be as severe as taking of all guns along with the vehicle and a fine for replacement of the animals. I believe each of the families of these boys should be punished in a like manner with the price of the main family vehicle, the price of a new Remington 270 BDL and a fine for replacement value of the animals mutilated along with all court costs incurred by the school district and the state to go to building up deer herds where populations are now extremely low. Then let's have these boys go to a feed lot or cattle sales for the entire football season and have them shoveling cattle manure while their coharts are playing ball. When these kids have to answer to the anger of their peers and the trouble and humilation of their families, I think justice will have been served and it will leave a lesson for others to never again tread in the same path of these kids. This may sound severe punishment, but let them go with a slap on the wrist and next time it may be a murder rap or human mutilation. Bring up a child in the LAW and they will not stray from it. Sounds like these kids have not been punished properly in the past!!!
