Actually I did call, and you get the same standard answer I got when I followed a drunk driver and when we had a kid on mini-bike racing up and down our street "we need to see it".
Neither time did the dispatcher offer to send an officer out.
Part of the frustration is the apathy you run into here when you try and do the right thing.
I have NEVER seen a HCSD car cruise that parking lot. Yet I see people sitting in a car, another car pulls up a quick exhange is done. And the cars leave, they're not there to shop for food.
If they were smarter they would do their dealing on a side street rather than a strip mall parking lot, but lots of teens hang out there. Clearly they know the police aren't coming through to hassle them.
A squad car going through a few times a night would help deter that.
Since they're not willing to do that, you have to look out for yourself. I try not to be in that shopping center after dark anymore.
I realize they can't be everywhere, but over the last few years of calling 3 different times for a drunk driver, a kid who was putting himself in danger by racing up and down a side street, and now witnessing a few drug deals in a parking lot, I throw my hands up.
I can't control what they do, but I can control being around lowlifes. So I tell people I know to watch themselves if they need to shop there at night.
