Where are the 650,000 jobs that Joe Biden claimed were created by the boy wonder in the White House? National unemployment is now at 10.2%

the city of Vallejo is truly a BLOCKBUSTER!

This was just a matter of time. BlockBuster has no value anymore. They will all close soon.

This sucks another business leaving Vallejo. Hope this makes the City Council happy they are doing such a good job running this town - into the ground. I really enjoyed Blockbusters and so did the grandkids it was a treat on a Sunday to go get a movie come home and watch it, sometimes over and over, We can just toss this up to another store leaving Vallejo, just like K-Mart, Linen and Things, etc. Guess one day we will be back to being a small town again boo hoo
It is unfortunate to lose Blockbuster, why don't you use On-demand? Well, but wait a minute I think that will soon cost us 7.3 percent in UUT taxes. |
Linens and Things went out of business everywhere and has been replaced here. If you read the article the closing of Blockbuster is nationwide not just Vallejo. Netflix has been kicking Blockbuster's butt so it was just a matter of time. |

While I feel sorry for the individual employees, and for the tax revenue that Vallejo will lose, this has been coming. Ever stood on the west side of this store trying to read titles and getting blinded by the light coming in the windows? Ever asked for help trying to find a title and got told "It's over there in drama or whatever".(Gee, Thanks) Blockbuster is a failing business model, and all those years of rip-off late fees are coming home to roost. Netflix is the new model. Proof is that Blockbuster is trying to copy that model, with online picking and in-store returns. They even copied Netlix website, and just changed the colors, really. Best Buy looked at purchasing Blockbuster entirely, and having them in store, like Magnolia. The math wasn't there for a profit. Lastly, the rental price is nearly $5 for new titles, quite high. So, sorry about the loss of jobs, but Blockbuster is going the way of travel agents and standing in line at the DMV. There simply is a better way. It's only a matter of time before they're all gone. Poof!

I'm surprised there are any still around. |

Ok guys, that is what I said!!!! LOL. Good model in the 80's and 90's, obsolete today. Have a great weekend. Get NetFlix!

The reality of the retail life in Vallejo is cruel. It affects everyone from stores to consumers.
Vallejo is a poor to mid-income city, mainly blue collar and low end white collar. Vallejo's population is almost 75% minority /ethnic and these categories tend comprise the bottom enconomic tiers of the pyramid. This means that when economy slows cities like Vallejo are hit hardest econnomically and when the economy is good cities like Vallejo are the last to see the enconomic recovery/benefits. This fact is well reflected in the city's home values; the home values in Vallejo have historically been the first to fall and last to rise in the Bay Area. What Vallejo needs to do is to go back to the basics of job substainability and creation. Look realistically at the economic assets of Vallejo,(the quality, education, experience and any specialized training held by Vallejo's work force ) the city's location/transportation infrastuctures and sell to its strenghts to those businesses seeking those strenghts. Not the strenghts that maybe or someday or wishfully hoping to have one day but what we have now. Businesses want to see what you have now not maybe someday. Without adequate jobs and income for the Vallejo worker there will be minimal opportunity for any new retail business to move in or old ones to survive. |

Video stores period is on its way out and Blockbuster sucks the most. Go next door to raleys and check out the Redbox, a dollar a night for a movie.. can't beat that. automated dvd/movie machines are the wave of the future. blockbuster knows this. even in the article, they stated they want 10,000 of this machines in the U.S. by next year. |
The actual unemployment rate that the State run media(ie CNN, ABC, NBC, CBSO) does not report is more like 17%. |
For the bandwagon always ready to jump on Vallejo, I think this has more to do with the availability of cheaper and/or more convenient alternatives to dvd rental, including Netflix and free programs that enable one to download rapidshare movies on the Internet for free.

Go figure. Stef, what is your response? Do tell. Why is it the Fairfield Councilman Mraz has several large companies looking to come into Fairfield and our council does nothing but snipe? If they put in as much effort into trying to decimate the public safety unions into bringing in business this town would ROCK instead of Rollover.
"If they put in as much effort into trying to decimate the public safety unions into bringing in business this town would ROCK instead of Rollover" But Vallejo pays 20% more than Fairfield for all Public safety employees (over 30K per employee in salary & benefits). How is that deciminating the unions? Seems to me the Public safety Unions are decimating the city of Vallejo. And why did you even post this nonsense on a Topic about Blockbuster? |
Because they wanted to hear more of your (R)etarded bloviations. |
You know I don't like people using the word "retard". "bloviations" dirty - are you going to submit that to Websters? BTW, how is the beer-belly reduction program working for you? Can you see your **** yet? Doubtful. If you can see any protuberance at all, other than your gut, it's probably only your belly button. Chump |
I don't need to see my ****, that's your womans job. By the way, shouldn't you be out taking her signs down. Get on it BOY. Oh and you're a flippin (R)ETARD, you (R)ETARD. |
"I don't need to see my **** " - from what I understand, you're not missing anything! |
