I must be the perfect husband, father, grandfather, son, etc. And I know I could do more and improve. It appears to me some of these single moms are ok with B.O.B. as a companion, child support flowing in, able to date when they want and who ( could be same sex ) etc. Now of those single moms how are you role models for sons ? How are role models for daughters who just might like a guy and think about getting married ?

Some good points, as a man I feel exactly the same way about sex, how nice it would be to not have all the female BS and just do it. Hey guys, DON'T get married, women are more self centered than ever before!!

There is a very high correlation between a child being fatherless, and the child growing up to lead a life of crime. Here the author would make a poor wife, and tries to justify her difficult nature.

Human Female Single Parent Mothers are daily given primary custody of the familie's children and they are daily also neglecting and abusing these same children. Here is a link to many stats attesting to this reality. http://www.divorcereform.org/all.html

Wow! The angst from men in response to this article. You know what? I am a single parent (male), do a fine if not imperfect job of raising my two children, and I found this article to be every bit as relevant to me as it might be to any single moms. It's good to know I am not the only one out there feeling this way. In fact I cut out the article just so I could show it to the next friend or family member who asks why I don't remarry. "Wouldn't having a wife make parenting so much easier" Not really! I'm not a woman hater, it's just that I don't have room in my life for one right now. I think Katie Powalski hit that sentiment right on the nose.

What is the fascination about having a child? Reading some of the headlines makes one realize there are a lot of people who should not be allowed to breed whatsoever. Raising a child with only one parent is a selfish act on their part (not fair to the kid). Now before you say I had to leave because of the abuse, think, why did I have a child with this (insert your own words)? Raising a child is hard and demanding work. When you bring a child into this world be ready for some huge sacrifices. On the other hand be ready for a few moments of joy. Children are not pets.

Interesting article, however I think it would have been more balanced to present both a male and female perspective on this. There are plenty of great single dads out there who love raising their kids alone, but at the same time they are not closed off to meeting someone. I honestly think men recognize the need for a child to have a mother more than women recognize the need for a child to have a father. I feel too many women are trying to prove a point, and in some cases they really are just selfish by thinking their way is the only way for these kids.

There is nothing wrong with being a single, divorced, or widowed mother or father. It is good for a kid to have family in his or her life.

I raised my daughter by myself for 12 years before I got married to my current hubby who was also a single parent of a boy 5 years old. I never liked single parenthood and can't think of one good thing to say about it. Yes, it is difficult when your partner has other ideas when it comes to raising a child, but you get through it. The kids grow up and then you have each other and things are great again. I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. I love being married and belonging to someone and someone belonging to me.

Unless you are unwilling or unable to share the child with the other parent. One parent denying the child time with their other parent is child abuse and should be punished as such.
