13-Year-Old Charged After Text Message

I am wondering why kids today need a cell phone in school. They are suppose to be there to learn, not to have telephone conversations with friends or parents during the school day. My children survived Middle and High school without a pager or cell phone.

I think that the text messages are not that big of a deal.. People can talk all they want, but a thirteen year old is not going to do much.. Once there are threatening words in person that's when action needs to be taken.
Based on this, I could get MANY people charged for threatening messages to me.. Teens will talk, that's just part of being a teenager. |

Kids are kids. What is the difference between sending a mean or threatening text message and writing a note and handing it to someone? Well at least it doesn't get passed around until it reaches the desired person. Cell phones don't bother me.
