Im sorry but I thought Gays could be Christians too. I didn't know that wearing a rainbow ornament was making a religious statement. Go figure, I guess I am not a very good homosexual.

I was not commenting on whether or not Gays and Lesbians were Christians or not. I was commenting on the fact that they could wear the symbols that identify them with a persecuted group. If Gays and Lesbians can wear symbols that proclaim their lifestyle (another controversial issue), why can't Christians wear symbols that proclaim theirs? It may be splitting hairs but it highlights a double standard.

I am sick to death of all this political correctness in this country. Our country was founded on christian principles and those principles are engraved on many of our washington monuments. Patriots have shed their blood and lost their lives upholding these principles. If home depot will not let a man ( and I say man not a boy) honor his county in this way , it truly makes me wonder about Home depot allegence.. We are at a time in our county where are leaders are being apologetic about America , Why is it everyone wants to come here but nobody wants to leave .Where else does a county bend over backword on diversity . Whoever said SILENCE IS GOLDEN is wrong. All GOD FEARING AMERICANS NEED TO SPEAK UP AND BE HEARD . Home depot hsa no problem taking the American Dollar which says in GOD WE TRUST. I wonder if the young man had a dollar bill pinned on his uniform if they would have made him take it off . A former Home Depot shopper and proud American.

The constitution was founded on Christian principles along with The Government and all of it's laws and policies. So what U are saying is that we have to hide the literature based on which our country was founded for the sake of not offending some Atheist. What R U? The Devil Incarnate??
Yes, yes I am. And you are...?
Do you think that a government which is dedicated in all ways to a religion is a good idea? See Iran if you beieve this.
This country was founded over 200 years ago by a small group of relatively homogenous people. Over the course of time, this great country has become more and more mixed with all different kinds of people from different backgrounds. How can we say that any one deserves top billing over any other. Majority rule may be the norm, but why must it rule. What is wrong with mutual respect. Respect at least for the people if not for their beliefs and right to have them.

That was a good point about the dollar bill Jesse. You know money wont offend them know matter what it says on it. A person can use policy to do their dirty work for them and you know it's their dirty work when the it's not done in a timely manner. A year is a little excessive. Regardless, we all have to answer for our actions one day. They can try to explain it then I guess.

Company rules state that you can't have any *personal* button, pin,or anything else on a HD company apron. No rainbow pins, no pictures of your kids, no XXX for President, no anything unless HD supplies it. You sign that when you go to work for HD, and only a moron wouldn't understand the multiple warnings that he was given before he was fired. It's not about being "anti-God" or anti or pro anything else. It's about violating dress code. Repeatedly. I'd really love to wear my *Pagan and Proud* button, but I'd get fired too. As I should. It would obviously piss off a bunch of christers. Well, that stupid button would have pissed me off if I had to work with him. So, we're equal. Neither of us can wear our beliefs to work.
BTW, the founders of HD are all Jewish. Not a "Christian" company at all--as if a *company* could have a faith.

How is someone wearing a button forcing their religion on you much less your bedroom? Had they minded the button they would have fired him the first time he wore it. Not a year later coincidently right after he started bringing a bible to read on HIS lunch hour? They just used the button as an excuse.
Florida is a "right to work" state. Employers need no excuse.

A year after multiple warnings illustrates great patience on HD part...the employee was warned several times to correct the issue and chose not to.

Why are some people so opposed if someone shows their beliefs?
For example, what is so offensive about Christmas? Is it the wish for "Peace on Earth" or could it be the wish for "Goodwill to all?" that gets people so riled up?

The Lowes here in Memphis have always said Merry Christmas, at one time Target would not say Merry Christmas and I ask one of their managers one day why they wouldn't say Merry Christmas and she told me the company didn't want to offend the any one so when I left my basket full of Christmas gifts and walked out I spoke my words. About two years ago they changed that policy and now say Merry Christmas at least here in Memphis because there was an out cry from there not saying it.
Just curious, but you had a basket full of Christmas gifts from LOWES? Maybe your Lowes is different, our Lowes is a hardware store. If yours is a hardware store too, then please tell me about the Christmas gifts you bought there. Sounds Interesting

This guy's a moron. He's going to WORK. Abide by the rules of the workplace. They wouldn't let someone wear a 'I'm with Satan' button either. He was warned and he chose to ignore it. He got fired. End of story.

I would like to see an interview with the store manager. What excuse will he use for firing the employee? Did he warn the employee?

Most of the comments posted have been missing the issue, or are not well researched. While I am a christian, and proud of that fact, if you read the newspapers and even the articles attached to this forum, you would see that this employee signed a paper upon hire stating something to the affect of not wearing anything not issued by Home Depot, number 1. He was also warned numerous times to remove it and refused. The issue was not that it was a button about God or religion, the issue was that he was told from the day of hire not to wear anything not given by home depot, did it anyway, was asked numerous times to remove it, refused, and then he was fired. Maybe this man, though commendable as a christian, is a dummy for losing his job over a button.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Libra

You're full of empathy and affection today, so it would be a shame not to spread it around. It's a marvellous day for a low-key get-together with some of the people you haven't seen during the past few days, because you'll enjoy having a good chat about what's been happening. Once your social duties are out of the way you'll love curling up on the sofa with a good book or a favourite film.
