He's in charge of his load and responcible as to what happens with it. The only question I would have is was he following a prescribed route? If so, the trucking company he works for shares a measure of responcibility.

He should face charges, but I think his employer should be sitting next to him at the defense table. Although nothing that happens now will bring her back, but if they hold them both responsible may be just may be the operators will take a closer look and these trucking companies might think twice about pressuring their drivers into bad decissions preventing further tragedies.

I have nothing against the drivers out there that take their jobs seriously, but this guy deserves everything that is thrown at him. The fact that he drove from CA to PA without knowing the height of his load is absolutely unbelievable!! What a loser.

This guy is the reason most people hate truckers!!

unfortunate someone died. you've gotta question whether the trucker was just a company man and did as he was told or was truly an idiot. these truckers run tall and heavy all the time to make a living to feed their kids and pay their school taxes. all part of the scrum and decay of society i guess...

With all the "Truck Scale, Check Points" across the country, this guy couldn't have made it this far, if he had been checked, without
having to at least secure his load properly. Its a safe bet he was given a route by his company that would either bypass these check points or have him pass them when the odds are they will be closed. They both are equaly and should be punished appropiately and as an example to others.

One of many reasons that tractor-trailer traffic is specially hazardous on RTE 22. Outdated infrastructure, outdated on/off combination ramps, and the like.

Seems like every time I drive past one of those checkpoints, it's CLOSED.

Understand most truckers these days are foreigners who can barely read. Been told they get licensed through barely legal ways. Trucking companies pay them cheaper wages. Don't crucify me. Just passing along what I've heard through other truckers.

You don't drive from Ca to Pa and not have any idea of your trailer height or route restrictions. Something sounds/smells fishy here. Hang him and the company he was working for. I see these piece of s**t truck drivers everyday thinking they own the roads.

Then again, had the lady not been following so closely, she would have had time to avoid the container. If the trucker was at fault, then she shares in an equal amount of the blame.

And so are the passenger vehicle drivers who cut them off, ride their bumpers and race them. All drivers are idiots even I am at times.

That sounds about right. The American business man is so into making money that they are sending jobs overseas whenever possible and hiring inferior employees to get the job done...why you ask...so they can make money!

This is a horrible situation that lost the life of a good person.
Yes,
A total idiot truck driver caused it.
I'm so sorry for the family and friends of this loss.
But,
Your comment is SO stupid.
"ALL truck drivers are..."
Are you the kind of person that reads news articles and thinks everyone that has the same job is the same???
If so...
You need mental help.

PennDot should invest in a few overheight vehicle detectors. This may help prevent situations like this in the future. There is no notification before that overpass of the height restriction.
