WE OPPOSE THE SITE FOR THE SABOBA PROJECT.BUT THEY DO NEED A BETTER CASINO AND HOTEL BUT NOT SO CLOSE TO OUR PARK. IF THEY DECIDE TO BUY US OUT THEY BETTER PUT A GOOG OFFER ,BECAUSE THE HIGH RENT HERE IS VERY HIGH AND ITS GETTING WORSE THE PARK IS NOT IMPROVING EIETHER.PEOPLE SAY OH ITS A NICE PLACE,BUT YOU HAVE TO LIVE HERE.THE SCENERY OF THE MOUNTAINS IS NICE BUT THEIR IS MUCH CONCERN HERE TAKE ALOOK AT OUR HOMES FOR SALE.PEOPLE NO LONGER LIVE HERE BUT THEY STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR SPACE RENT.AND MANAGEMENT AND OWNERS OF PARK DONT CARE THEY GET THEIR RENT REGARDLESS,SO ITS BEST THEY BUY US OFF.OR THE TRIBE CAN BUY IT AND THEN WE CAN PAY LOWER RENT.NOT ORANGE COUNTY RENT PRIZES. THATS MY OPPINION.WHATS YOUR?

I think the project would be nice for the poeple of San Jacinto an Hemet. It would offer more jods for that area that is growing so much. Also Soboba should by the people out or put a wall around you.

desertgma911, You oppose it unless you can make enough money off of the project? That is what it sounds like from here. You also have nothing good to say about where you presently live so why oppose the expansion when there is a chance, according to you, that they can buy you out and you can move to a better park in or out of the area. Everyone complains that there is nothing in Hemet and you have to drive out of the valley for any real entertainment. Well, Soboba is attempting to change that and support themselves at the same time.

I think it would be a very good oppertunity for the soboba people, after all it is there ancestrial land they tend to put back into trust so why not. The citizens of san jacinto and hemet r lucky that the tribe is willing to cooperate with them and not just put up anything or anywhere because in the long run they truly can once the deal is approved but there willing to work with the city instead to make everyone happy and it would also bring countless jobs to this already growing city and might even raise the propertie values on some of the homes nearby

We need this development for our community.Just look at the positive economic impact it will have for the County of Riverside.Thousands of jobs, millions in revenue that will be reinvested back into the immediate community. The infastructure development

I agree that the expansion of Soboba would benefit the surrounding cities and the county. Everyone see's this as a great job opportunity for the area but keep in mind that most of these Tribal Casino's have what they call an "at will" employment meaning as fast as you obtained the job they can take it away with no valid reason. And trust me, I have seen it enforced. If you research the casino's you will see that they have the highest turnover rate than any other business. I currently work at Soboba and they are trying really hard to phase out employees and replace them with machines. As much as I am excited to see a brand new Casino and Hotel I can't help but worry if my job is next. I am trying to keep a positive outlook on this but they are really just interested in putting more money into their pockets and in the pockets of their Tribal Members. As for the mobile home park that is close by, if the Tribe succeeds in obtaining that property they will make everyone move and replace it with a mini-mall (kinda like Cabazon). Soboba holds Town Hall meetings every so often and they go over stuff like this, you should check and see when the next one is. They usually hold them in the lounge at the Casino and they can be very informative. I'm not trying to be negative but I just want to let people know that with the good always comes the bad.

Soboba really needs to phase out all of their fellow tribe members who can not stop breaking the law and shooting at everyone before they expand anything!!!! If you think Hemet is bad your in for a shocker when you get near this place!!!!!!!

For the record, its not just casinos that have an "at will" employment policy, but that is the state law. Other states have contracts, where when you are hired, no matter the job, you have to be there for aset period of time bfore leaving no matter what, that is the contract you sign. So you can't quit on them, but they can't fire you. California is an "at will" state, meaning you don't have to stay anywhere you dn't want to, you can quit any job for no reason, the flip side is you can be fired for no reason. |

2 Who ever wrote this has no idea how it is on the Reservation i have many friends up there and i havent seen one incident where somebody at random has got shot at ussualy people start stuff and it leads to that on rare occasions but normally its cool. And if people dont want to get shot at they need to Obey the No Tresspassing signs that are posted all over the rez and not ride there Motorcycles or offroad in the back roads because after all there has always been incidents with people from town so they know Just stay the Fuck out now. and the person who wrote this needs to come up here and experience this place and not be so scared and stereotyping Soboba because u have no clue |

Reading these comments is so frustrating. There is so much misinformation and misunderstanding. Everyone wishes the tribal members well, but this project does not belong in a residential neighborhood. We have zoning for a reason, so that there is a separation between quiet homes and noisy businesses. Home is a place to rest. The tribe should treat its neighbors as they want to be treated, with respect and consideration. The letters written to the BIA are heart wrenching and any human being would sympathize with the three communities directly affected by the present casino and the proposed expansion. The city of San Jacinto will not benefit from this, in fact, it will be harmed. City services will have to be provided with no taxes to provide them. Your city taxes will go up because of this, so even if you don't live in the surrounding neighborhoods affected, you will feel the pinch. Don't believe the gossip, research the facts and make intelligent decisions based on those facts. The tribe is directed by law to mitigate. They have not had a good track record of working with the neighborhood and city. The TASIN money that they must contribute has been directed to areas not directly affected by the casino. Our three communities have not benefited because, after all, we are only old, retired people who came here to enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty of the area. There is no money involved in that.

1 Don't get me wrong, I'm not stereotyping every tribal member. But you can't deny the fact that the rez is an absolute haven for crime and criminals. I remember an incident recently where the Sheriff's office recovered something like 15 stolen cars from a home on the rez... why the hell do you need to steal 15 cars when you make $15k/month?!? |

Saying that the reservation is a haven for criminals is not saying that everyone on the reservation is a criminal. Therefore, my statement was not a stereotype. I was simply stating facts. The reservation has a crime rate SIGNIFICANTLY higer than any city in California compared to the number of people who live there. The crime rate is like 1,000% higher than the cities of San Jacinto and Hemet which surround it. Those, my friend, are facts that you can't ignore. That's precisely why the tribe cancelled it's agreement with the Sheriff's dept in 06. They didn't want their dirty laundry out there for everyone to see it. When you have that much crime, I guess it's better to just keep it a secret. But when you lure Sheriff's deputies onto your land so you can shoot at them with assault rifles from multiple directions in a flat-out ambush, how can you call yourself civilized afterward? |
