Indian Trail doesn't need a mayor. Waste of taxpayer $$$$$. Position should be eliminated next election cycle.

Voters deserve a leader, the council is wrong to deny the voters their duly elected leader regardless of their own personal feelings on his effectiveness.

Mayor is not a leader in a council/manager form of government. Nothing more than a figure head for ribbon cuttings. Like I said earlier waste of tax money.

Did you ever wonder why a Mayor "Chairs" (some people groudned in reality would call that a leadership position) the council meetings? Did you ever wonder why such a non-essential position is also considered part of the all power council (with voting powers in some cases)? Unless you are in the majority, you won't get anything done. This has been going on for years.

Considering what happened at the Indian Trail Town Council meeting on August 11th, I am encouraged that the recent actions by the Town Council may have begun to get the attention of our citizens. Approximately forty people attended and due to air conditioner malfunction, many sat in the heat for well over two hours. The main topic of interest was a discussion of ethics; an agenda item requested by Councilwoman Shirley Howe. Because of the heat and the large crowd, I asked that the ethics item be moved up on the agenda to an earlier point in the meeting so the folks would not have to endure the conditions while other more routine issues were discussed. In a three/two vote, the Council opted to make the people wait.
That night, the folks heard Mr. Schallenkamp admit he had initiated a behind the scenes discussion among Council members whereby they considered evoking a rarely (if ever) used State Statute to declare me mentally unfit to serve as Mayor and vote me out of office (so much for ethics). The problem was that the Statute requires a unanimous vote before a Council can take such an action. The effort apparently went no further after Councilman Hullinger refused to go along with it. The attendees saw for the first time what has been going on in these meetings. The reactions I have gotten from them have been mostly disbelief and outrage over the lack of Council professionalism and ethics.
The recent Council action to ban me from Town Hall and from speaking to the staff is outrageous and un-American. I fear that our staff is now being subjected to an atmosphere of intimidation and coercion. The Council believes that I should back whatever they decide to do. My job is not to put positive spin on decisions the Council makes when I don’t believe they are in the taxpayer’s best interests. My loyalty and commitment is to the people of Indian Trail, not to the Town Council.
I want to thank those who stood up during the “public Comments” period of the meeting and voiced their support, including former Councilwoman Mercedes Cass. It was great to hear people call for a citizen ethics panel to review and monitor town government. There is a critical need for greater citizen awareness of Council and staff activities as it relates to the prioritizing of public projects and spending. Voters ultimately have the power to effect needed change in Town Hall. It is critical that the two vacating Council seats be filled by candidates of integrity, who care and who will truly listen to our taxpayers. Candidate John Marshall impesses me the most.

JQ should be conserned about an ethics investigation. Of course John Hullinger sided with JQ, than campaigned together and it was the Mayor's tie breaking vote that put him on the council. JQ has proven he is un ethical. Who was it that was secretly tapoing council members during cloesd sessions? Answer - JQ.

He should also remember that a majority of the Indian Trail voters did not vote for him. It is also interesting that Councilman Schallenkamp and Councilwoman Howe who were his biggest supporters during the campaign are now his biggest critics.

I will take you to task on multiple points.
1. I was there for that meeting and first of all you would be lucky if 40 people total were in attendence. Most of which were not standing with you. In fact, you probably had at most 15 people on your side and after talking to some of them personally, they were mostly misinformed regarding your actions.
2. Thank you for bringing up the 'mental health' issue. I hadn't heard about that before you brought it up. What I heard during that meeting is you tried to get Mr. Hullinger to agree with you that the rest of the Council was going to invoke this particular statute. He openly and flatly disagreed with you that was NOT the case. I believe his words exactly were 'No, Mr. Mayor. I never said that. You are recalling that incorrectly.' Something like that. Lets go back to the minutes to find out exactly what he said. I'm sure you don't want that however. A person in your position doesn't want facts getting in the way of a good rant.
3. You are right about the attendees seeing what goes on in these meetings. You act out of spite and without integrity almost every chance you can.

4. Your comments regarding the town staff NOW being intimidated and coerced is ridiculous. Anyone can look at their faces during your 'episodes' to see you were the one intimidating them and coercing them before. That is exactly why you were banned from the town hall. It was not to censor you or keep you quiet as you like to portray. You are very transparent to show yourself manipulating and it is quite obvious to me you have a specific agenda and your blind supporters miss that fact.
5.It would be great to have a citizens ethics panel, if only to never let a situation like this happen again. You would have been stopped in your tracks a long time ago.
6. You often talk about not wanting to be quiet about council decisions that are against taxpayers interests but you never say what those decisions are. Instead of typing 2 or 3 paragraphs about the Council injustice to you personally, why not act like a Mayor and tell the people what issues you're talking about specifically? You never do! Maybe because you don't want anyone looking at the fact you were trying to get street lights installed at taxpayers expense directly behind your subdivision. No one else sees the need for it but you. Again, very transparent!

7. Why didn't you bring up the fact a great deal of time is being spent on you withholding town emails when requested. To the point you would rather be subpeonaed by the town attorney for these documents. You were acting very childish regarding these documents when directly asked for them responding "why do you want them?" when you were just told no one needs to tell you their reason for wanting them. You told everyone you had these emails, yet you won't produce them. How long has this been going on? A few months? How long does it take? In addition, when forced by the town attorney, you said you needed another month to get them and 'you'll let them know if you have any problems'. That is crazy! How difficult is it? What kind of problems do you anticpate? Please!!! You don't even need to print them, all you have to do is click the forward button.
If I were John Marshall, I would be careful of whose endorsement I get. The last thing someone like him needs is to tie his wagon to your train. Mayor Quinn if want to invoke change in Indian Trail government why have you not sought one of the two open council seats in the upcoming election ? As you can attest to the role of mayor in a council manager form of govt is little more than a ceremonial ribbon cutting postion.
Why not seek a real voting place on the council ?

When Quinn run for council he was well aware that the Town has a council/manager form of government. He ran under false pretenses. He is a spoilt brat and never had the intention to respect the Town's ruling system. He revels in being the object of controversis, figure in the news in the paper, radio, or TV. It makes no difference what we say or do. He will carry on until either the council votes him out, 5 out of 5, or until he trips and is sued.

He actually got into an arguement with a council menber and the town attrney and then called down a private citizen. What an idiot

John Quinn is a jerk and his own HOA hates his guts! He was president of the HOA and he also alienated those working with him. Please citzens of Indian Trail fight this clown every step of the way!
