You will love Vero. Especially if you can live on the Cape in the winter, you can definitely deal with the slow summer season here. Vero is much more active than the Cape is in the winter.
We have lived in Vero for 8 years, having inched north from Jupiter and Stuart. Best thing we ever did.(Originally from Boston area)
Rent first. And if you want to buy, we have 5 acres on a paved road close to the mall and the community college, perfect for building a custom home (can have horses too). Posted on Craigslist. For $195,000 it's the best 5 acres in Vero for sale.- We planned to build ourselves there, but bought a new house in 2006, and have decided to keep this house instead.

I live in neptune beach just NE of Jacksonville,FL. I am considering moving to Vero Beach for the Willow school for my daughter. I am a massage therapist who is into the metaphysical side of the trade. I am concerned by what I have read about the conservative point of view. I have tattoos and am very open minded. Will I be viewed as I should or by tainted glasses? I also do not party but I do enjoy a live band. What are my chances of being happy here?
Julie you are better off in Miami. I live in Vero and this is the worst town on the face of this planet. Either you have or have not and it's unfriendly to those with little money.

The crime is bad, and there are so many very strange people into very strange "personal" practices, if you know what I mean. Just look up who owns some of the houses, like in Vero Lago, what a group of strange people!

Originally from the Northeast, I’ve been living in Vero for about 4 years now and have enjoyed every moment. In my opinion, the courteous and friendly people of this community are quite different from the arrogant and quite rude individuals of the Northeast. You’ll just have to forget about what's said on these posts and see the place for yourself. Wish you the best.
Getting serious about moving to Vero into Woodfield Gated community. Are you still enjoying
life there and would you consider this a good semi retirement place to live. Hate to see all
the comments about crime and bad schools. Trying to find someone from Woodfield to send feed back
but having no luck. I guess life anywhere is what you make of it except when the outside influences are so negative that you cant go out at night? What's your feeling on this?

My husband and I moved from MA fourteen years ago and settled in Sarasota for eight years and then moved across the state to Vero six years ago -- the best move we ever made. Sarasota is grid-lock in season and you are a prisoner of driving to and from. Very hard to get parking on the beach in season. Once they built the Ritz -- well they don't have the infrastructure to deal with all the people that came to SRQ.

We think Vero is a slice of heaven. Prices are high -- that is for sure, but where else can you play golf and/or tennis and only by a stones throw away from the beaches. Miles and miles and uncrowded clean beachs. Added bonus -- a lot of fellow New Englanders have found this oasis.

Good luck!

THere are many great reasons to live in Vero Beach. Over the past few years many of the cities in Florida underwent unprecedented growth. Yet, Vero Beach retains it's small town appeal. With miles upon miles of coastine and waterways, Vero Beach has considerable appeal with it's natural beauty. I hope you do pay us a visit and consider Vero Beach seriously. www.LuxuryHomesofVero.com

I've lived up and down the east coast and vero wasn't to bad. i lived in an apt. on hwy 60. i worked at one of the local boat companies for many years. yes it is way over crowded and looking at the out skirts of town would be your best bet.

Matt, I am from New Hampshire and have owned a home in Vero Beach for 4 years. It is a wonderfull place. I would also like to move there full time, but cannot find a job. Good luck to you and your family, you will be very happy.

How is free parking at free public beaches "geared to the affluent community"????? Face it you're just jealous of others with more $$$$ and want to move to a place where everyone's in the same double-wides and F150's.
born and raised in vero...i agree w/the gal in tenn...vero is all about the money...those free parking lots and free beaches used to exist
amonst palmettos and pines...now...sandwiched between gated condos...its covered up...nothing much to do there...activities are for "being seen"...i could still live there if i wanted to..i dont...i hauled ass..no floridians left there...i prefer real people

Daily Horoscope for December 28

Pisces

This is another good day to be tactful, and if anything you'll be even more successful than you were yesterday. This is not to be sneezed at, so seize the opportunity to talk to people who can sometimes be very touchy or who need to be handled with kid gloves. If you meet someone who's older or more influential than you, you'll be a big hit with them.
