Community official: Street racing a known problem near Maryland crash site where 8 were killed

Residents who live near the Maryland highway where eight street-racing fans were killed have long complained about reckless driving and street racing, a local community leader said Sunday.

Street racing has been a known problem for 20 or more years on the highway, also known as Route 210, said Stan Fetter, president of the Indian Head Highway Area Action Council.

The council also discussed the problem of reckless driving with Melvin High, Prince George's County's police chief, Fetter said. Read more

If they have known this WHY has nothing been done. The setting is perfect the area has no LIGHTS...HEY how about put some street lighting in.Know matter where you live theres always that AREA that has to many accidents ect.. until someone dies they do something about. Either light the area up put in Signal lights stop signs speed bumps ect. So people do not blame this on your county its like this everywhere. Peace

hey, how about doing something about the street racing!!! it can be done i have seen our county (charles) do it. we had a real problem for years on 224 marbury with the sunday racing of motorcycle's. the would actually stop you and finish the race. but after many many complaint's they did something!! it had been reported to pg. county police now maybe they will do something!!!

i topped my turbo integra GSR on route 210 (indianhead)

you can easily hit 170 on that road

glad I sold that car and grew up (a little bit)

There's a serious problem with drag racing on 210 ( Indian head highway). It would be nice if police monitored my area more.
