One thing that does amaze me is that I can put my real name on this, but no one else seems able to do that, everyone wants to hide behind some screen name.

This is the place to address this issue. These are simple questions. You're running for Sheriff right? If you can address that you were on sick leave you can address the other questions. This incident gave Franklin County residents a black eye in front of the whole world. We expect better from our county employees and our sheriff. I find the callous remarks toward Mr. Snyder very unprofessional. The same people responsible for Mr. Snyder's death continue to abuse him in the grave. This is very disturbing. Since you're here one can assume that you have engaged in this behavior and are responsible for some of these remarks. You should address this matter and clear up your position. I feel these remarks should be shared with the Topix forums of Franklin County's other communities so the voters can judge for themselves. If you can't clear this up I can't vote for you and I don't think others will either. Hurst said Snyder's death could have been prevented with medical treatment.
"If this person would have received treatment, this death was 100 percent preventable. It didn't have to happen because pneumonia is certainly treatable with medical care."
Snyder, of Benton, was unresponsive when he was taken by ambulance from the county jail on Jan. 25 at the request of his attorney, Paula Newcomb of Benton. He was taken to Franklin Hospital in Benton, then transferred by ambulance to Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, where he died at 3:40 a.m. Jan. 28 without regaining consciousness.
Hurst also said he was "surprised and alarmed" at Snyder's medical condition when he arrived at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, only hours after being taken from the Franklin County Jail.
"This was an extreme case of pneumonia that had to develop over a period of time," Hurst said. "Also, he also had many bed sores on him that you would not expect an inmate to have." This doesn’t bother you?

wow. some people just seem to live and breath drama on this forum. as for andy taylor, dt was on medical leave and he cleared up that matter because he was being accused of being part of that mans death. which he had nothing to do with and since he WAS on medical leave and you love to ASSume things so much it should also be assumed that he obviously doesn't know all of the details of this incident. that's like assuming that if your quickie mart or whatever job you have got robbed that since you work there you must have had some part in it. you seem like one of those oh poor pitiful me people that can't stand to see people make anything of their lives. I'M voting for DT and i know many many other people who are, so i think he will be just fine without you mr. taylor. i believe that DT has definitely gone above and beyond in serving franklin county and that he is the best choice for sheriff.

All the candidates for FC Sheriff are douchebags. But I guess even uneducated lazy fools are entitled to a paycheck... It would be nice to see them go out and get a real job in the private sector, but those coward losers could never handle it.

I really don't know why we would vote anyone into the position of Sheriff for Franklin County that has not completed the police academy training course. That position should have to have the same training as the officers under him are required to have before they an become a police officer. At this point I don't think the Drug Task Force personel are not required to have this training.

Those of you trashing the police officers need to give it a break. You must not realize that everytime they go on duty they are putting their lives into the hands of every drunk, druggy, drug dealer, thief, or just plain loser that walks around with a gun or a bad attitude. The population of Franklin County according to the internet is 39,488, that is number of people think they are the boss of each police office that we have in the county. Then again anytime there is trouble I bet you call those same officers you are bashing.

Im usually anti-cop, but jester, your just being plain ridiculous. there are SOME good cops out there( albiet very very few). Im voting for D.T. just because ive heard negative stuff about all the others. and i know hes nice to his neighbors. thats not a whole lot but all the other candidates have a long list of reasons i would never vote for them and he hasnt a one. i realize its kinda choosing the lesser of 5 evils, but fuk a whole lot of jr moore or choiser in office.
