Looking to move to Idaho Falls from Out of State. I am having a difficult time finding the actual residency time. I have read everything from 60 days to 12 months. How long do you have to live in Idaho to be classified as a resident? We are trying to find our for Health Insurance Reasons.
Also does this pertain to Auto Registration and Fishing License's?
Your help is greatly appreciated!!!

I cannot speak for the other licenses, but for IDFG residency is based on 6 months and if you drive, your drivers license must also be switched over to Idaho. Active military have different rules. Residency is documented with rent or utility bills.

You should contact your insurance company and ask how THEY define residency. Most people get a new driver's license, rent or buy a home, register their cars, and pay yearly taxes. What qualifies as residency say, to a university here, is a lot different than what another agency might say.

Bottom line, ask your insurer what YOU need to do to PROVE residency to them.

Yes, Thinking about moving, there are great things about eastern ID. Lots of fun events that encourage people to be involved, neighbors and friends who care about each other, Spud Day is big in Shelley. Shelley is now only 5 miles south of Idaho Falls, given annexations by both cities.

Life is different in Atlanta, or in my case, Marietta and Shelley. I moved back to Shelley. Are you already in ID or thinking about moving?

Brian,

I think your post was the most helpful here, as insurance companies do have different rules depending on the states and level of managed care etc. in that state.

Losinski ID Fish Game - I also believe your community was helpful.

Is it possible that a private insurance vs. a Fish and Game license might have differnt residency requirements?
