convergys was good company way back in 2002 now it's doing no good and people (the management )know nothing about runing the company they dont respect employee agent gl and tl and operaton manager should resign rather asking the agent who take all call and run company because they are not providing training salary they know nothing about runing company bunch of people run make decision to fireagent every day for no reason, reason is they loseing bussiness but the blame employee. who is not responsible for loseing bussiness in any case .they name will disappear and no body will remember convergys anymore .this will happen in couple of year

Convergys Hickory is the absolute worst place to work. They located here bc they knew the job loss in this area was horrific - otherwise no one would continue to work there after the training period ends. They promise raises and bonuses that no one ever receives and the way they treat their employees does not promote the positive environment necessary for positive customer service delivery or business success.

This company is totally HEARTLESS! Had to go to Florida because mother was on death bed.... and while there... got fired! They said too days absent from work!! God forbid you should get sick or someone dies... they don't care!!

I got that impression from a few people I talked to who went there for a job. They said the interviewer was a complete bitch who had the personality of a dead dog.

What the other posters are saying is 100% true. I was forced to seek employment here when I was laid off from work and wanted to make my UI stretch a bit as I saw the recession was here for the long haul. There's been some decent days, but in the long run I think I'd have been better off to continue looking. Where do I start? The employees (other than a handful, most of whom work during the days) are absolute idiots with dismal customer service skills and a do-less mentality that makes customers and even the other departments of Convergys treat them like crap. How do you justify following the rules when so many around you don't and the customer/technician knows that all they have to do in order to get their way is call back and get someone else? So that when they come across someone (like me) who actually follows the guidelines, they get pissed b/c "all the others do this for them or they've been doing this for years with other CSRs." The managers are a joke and will NEVER manage anything other than the employees at this company as their unprofessionalism and downright illegal behavior would not be tolerated elsewhere. The few that do work with you are swarmed as employees from other teams, desperate for help, go to the few that they know will help them and avoid those who belittle, lie, and outright avoid talking to you. They promise incentives and points but I've yet to receive even half of what I've earned and I've heard of horror stories where they promised employees bonuses in order to get them to sell and then send out notifications a week before having to make good on their offer that they will not be honoring those incentives in order to cut costs. They tell you they will be there, they will not allow you to be harassed by customers, etc...but I was left on the phone for over 50 min. past my scheduled time off tonight (and 17 min. after the center had closed) to deal with a customer that was rude and literally tried to wear me down/annoy me into granting them yet another free promo offer. Tried telling my manager only to be brushed off and then have him put the call on speaker phone and laugh whenever the customer made a rude/belittling comment. Bad customers aside, good people are shat upon at this place with employees needlessly transferring customers from dept to dept despite it being an issue they can handle just b/c they want to keep their call time down or avoid having to deal with them. When these customers fall into my lap, they're already irritated and rude as hell (and I don't blame them). Others are screamed at and lied to...not from malice but pure incompetence and laziness as basically you're trained to get all of your information from an online guidebook that is about as easy to navigate as a metro speedway wearing a blindfold. About 1/4 of my scenarios aren't even listed in that damn guidebook and it changes whenever. But then you have to deal with Joe Schmoe who was given misinformation and now they're stuck with a huge programming package or locked into an extended committment and all you can say is "I'm sorry." And yeah, some of it might be the customers simply forgetting they were told (which is what Convergy's likes to tell you is the truth 100% of the time), but when I placed my own order for services, I had to correct the CSR on several occasions about deals she told me had no expiration date, prompt her to tell me about the service agreements and any fines that might occur and a host of other things that they are required to tell you. Don't take my word for it though. Look them up on the BBB. Look at their reviews listed and the complaints lodged against them and the companies they work for. It's a truly revolting corporation, and I've never been exposed to anything like it in my entire life.

Convergys is horrible. not flexible with your schedule, no proper training and the Tl's and OM's are a complete joke. The ONLY benefit to working there is getting in alot of customer service experience. They will hire anybody but I would stay away from there

Ok so some people may have had a bad experience but i've had a complete opposite experience with convergys. If i've read correct you are asking about Convergys in Hickory, right? Well i work there now and its a great place to work. You are guarenteed 40 hours a week and they OFFER OVERTIME anytime you want it. What company offers overtime? seriously its for people who need the money and like doing what they do. If you can't handle dealing with people complaining over their cellphone then no you shouldnt be there. But put your self in their shoes. If you pay 100 + for your phone bill you expect everything to work great and the bill to come out right. If for some reason your bill is 200 more dollars than it should be OF COURSE UR GOING TO GET A MAD customer. wouldnt you be upset? & if for some reason you come across a customer that rubs you the wrong way, if you are uncomfortable talking to them, TRANSFER. Get ur team leader. There are options all over the place. Great Benefits and great flexibility with hours worked. So im sorry other people have had bad experiences, but it sounds to me like a bunch of ppl got laid off for not doing their job properly and now they wanna bash the place. I've had a time of my life working there and i've met many people i plan on knowing for a long time.

I can identify with Jane, my maternal grandmother died and i was demoted and fired after being told that i could take three days of death in the family leave, i got the phone call that i was fired at the reception AFTER my grandmothers funeral, they are HEARTLESS

I worked for convergys back in '99 great company then, now i recently worked for them and it sucked the supervisors were rude i was on a team who didn't like girls and complained about always getting new girls on her team, she never wanted to fix your time due to not able to find a computer to log in and clock on, if you went to lunch/break you were left looking and walking around aimlessly for a seat, they didn't have enough parking and hired anyone for the job, they cared more about your hold time then your customer satisfaction, the pay is good guaranteed full-time, trainers are awesome but once you get on the floor you are on your own from there you transfer the cust to the dept that needs to handle it and you are arguing with them to do their job. Supervisors SUCK there major especially Coonen.

The OM and floor Sup don't have no common sense, some of them didn't know what to do, the customers didn't bother me I gave them what they needed to stay, but as far as help with an override or get into a chat please hold your breath on that

I will say that I didn't get laid or fired I quit that job if it was managed the way it was in 99 then I would of stayed I am bashing it b/c I can and it is not the way to treat employees, you don't get overtime all the time it is here and there, they care how you look coming into work, they should of kept it the way it was done buisness not causal wearing flipflops and pj's they have their favorites what OM you know had a smile on their face??? or said hi when you smiled at them??? name one

Convergys is the worse company I have ever worked for.
They mess up your pay checks and make you wait for them to fix it. If you put in for vacation or leave you can guarantee that it will not be submitted you will get a no call no show and be missing your pay on your pay check.
They constantly harass you about your talk time but their systems are always down or run at dial up speed.
There bathrooms are dirty and they leave you notes to keep them clean, how about making the cleaning company do their job!! We cant even get hand soap or paper towels because they are always out once again is that not the responsibility of the company to provide that for employees?
The sinks and toilets are constantly out of order and the restrooms stink.
They make you stay at work while you are sick or in labor threatening to fire you then you have to be taken out in an ambulance.
They change the rules and policies to suit them and only certain individuals have to follow the rules.
When you go to work you are guaranteed to have had some kind of rule changed or they are down your throat about employees not performing to there expectations.
If you need to speak to someone in human resources about problems with your tl or om forget because human resources will cover up what is going on. They have made it clear to employees that if you get fired it is clearly your fault and they will fight you all the way so you don't get unemployment.
They don't care about any of there employees its all about you making money for them and mind you, you get a stinky 10 cent raise for being one of the top agents at Convergys you can stick your 10 cents where the sun don't shine.
The only reason you have the employees you do is because of the economy.
The training is a joke they give you the training throw you out to the wolves then discipline you because their training sucked. They don't even train you on how to use the phone systems, or transferring procedures but let you accidentally hang up on the customer and guess what YOUR FIRED.
The tl's and om's talk down to you and even threaten you and no one does anything about it. But let you talk to them or any of your customers like that and guess what? YOUR FIRED!
Sexual harassment it happens and again they don't do anything.
They lie to the employee's when they hire you but I would not advise anyone to apply or work for Convergys. The stress will really make you sick at this place and the pay is not worth your health.

I am trying to find out if something my friend told me is true. They borrowed money from me because they said that Convergys did not pay them for three weeks because they messed up their paychecks. So of course I helped out but they never payed me back. This was supposed to have happened some time in March 2010 they said an employee had taken money from the payroll and they did not get payed. They said it happened when they went from paychecks to direct deposits and messed up. If anyone knows anything about this I would love to know.

That place is horrible, the only thing good about it is the benefits. One day you are told to do it this way and the next it's totally opposite. Nobody knows what is going on. You train for five weeks and don't learn a thing about the hell u are about to face. I have never hated a job so much, the rules and regulations are crazy. You practically don't get breaks cause your either bringing up your systems (and there's a lot of them), moving to one side of the building or upstairs/downstairs, or going to get your car from down the street. Maybe if they would cut out all the scripted BS that you are required to say to customers, you could get some real work done.
