Its been one month since you were taken from this earth. It makes no sense. For what, why?
To those of you who didn't have the pleasure of knowing Dana I am sorry. I went to school with her and she truely was a great girl. I never saw or heard her put anyone down. Dana always had a smile on her face and just made the world a better place. She loved animals ,the true sign of a great person. If everyone in life lived like Dana the world would be a better place. Dana was a true lady, nowadays I meet so few. I offer her parents my truest and most heart felt sympathy. This community is heart broken and you are in our prayers.I ask everyone who reads this to pray that Dana's murder is solved and the coward/ cowards who did this are brought to justice. If anyone knows anything about this please call San Antonio police department.You can remain nameless. Again, Dana Claire Edwards you were loved and will be missed. |

1 Child is a kind word for his cowardice. He has made it through life with no accountability and look where it got us! He does not have it within his character to stand up and do the right thing. We all just have to hang in there and this denial will end. Please find comfort and know Dana was loved and respected by so many as she did great and caring things for all she knew. |

I keep wondering when we are going to hear something new about this horrible crime? It's like the whole thing just disappeared. Surely, the police are working the case?
As for the boyfriend not cooperating.. I don't know anything about that, although I do know him. But in these days of DNA matching, etc.. surely it would be easy to confirm or eliminate him as a suspect fairly quickly. One court-ordered cheek swab and you've got his DNA. I don't know. I speak from no knowledge whatsoever. It's just frustrating. And I'm an outsider. Her family must be going through hell. My thoughts and prayers are with them. I hope whoever did this is caught quickly and punished to the full extent of the law. And I hope that, eventually, her family will find some peace. |

The wheels of justice turn very slowly, but we are finding they do turn. It is not so easy to get a 'swab', and that might not be what is needed. We all watch to many TV programs, it doesn't work that way. Patience is the way to truth.

I can't believe that it would be this hard to get a search warrant for a DNA sample in this case? Especially given the circumstantial evidence.
At the same time, I can't help but wonder whether a DNA sample would be of any real value at all? I mean, given the suspect is a recent boyfriend then it seems that the defense could open up a lot of reasonable scenarios as to how his DNA/fingerprints/hair, etc.. would be found in her apartment. However, I there may be details of the crime that would make DNA a smoking gun. If so, I really don't want to know what those details are. The crime is horrific enough as it is. And also, it's a simple matter of respect for the victim and her family. Enough of their privacy has been violated as it is. I stated in an earlier post that I know the suspect/ex-boyfriend. We grew up together. I still have a very hard time believing him capable of such an act. But I also know that, given the right mix of circumstances, people are capable of almost anything. As always, my thoughts and prayers go out to Dana's family. |

When will the grand jury meet on this case?

been better than 6 months and no arrests or clues? seems Alamo Height is holding something back...we have a strong PD in Castle Hills and they uncovered a much tougher case with out any suspects. Seems if all the fingers point in one direction.....drive to the cosast and nab that guy before he disappears into thin air!

It's SAPD...not AHPD jurisdiction where the crime took place.

1 I would watch the words that you throw around. Everyone is innocent until proven guilty. People who in live in glass houses should not throw stones. With the exception of the police, I doubt anyone truly understands what is going on and what the evidence is. Who ever is guilty of this heinous crime should be held accountable in a court of law, not in one of public opinion. I know that you and all of the victim's family and friends are hurting, but I cannot imagine that he and his family are not hurting desparately, too. Are you calling his family amoral because they are supporting their son?..that is just sick. A parents love is unconditional and unending. I understand the desire to strike out at someone or something in this situation, but if he is falsely accused (and certainly, his parents are not accused of anything) your actions and words are desparately harmful... |

|
All it would take for his family to not be in this situation is cooperation. Standing by your child is one thing, but allowing them to hide is another.
|
||||
His family hurting desperately too? As if there is a comparision. Their children are still living. |

1 I am not saying there is a comparison. There isn't. I cannot imagine the nightmare her family and friends have endured. I can also understand the need and desire to seek justice and to lash out at anyone who you think may be responsible for horrific event. What I am saying is that he has not been proven guilty. Throwing around accusations of murder against someone is a pretty hefty thing to do. If he is innocent - you can never take these words back and now another life is ruined. This is judgment of the harshest kind. Moreover, to call his parents amoral because they are supporting him isn't right either. What would you do if your child was accused of something like this? Hopefully you would love them, support them and encourage them to do the right thing...While I ABSOLUTELY agree that whoever did this should be held accountable, I think we should all put ourselves in the shoes of someone who is innocent until proven guilty. |
||||
How do we know if they have allowed him to hide? How do we know if they have not cooperated? If I were in the middle of this firestorm, I would want out of the middle of it, too, and I bet you would agree. |

I was very good friends with Dana Clair. On a regular basis, I attended many social gatherings with her and her ex boyfriend. I have not seen him at all since the day of Dana's funeral. Is that behavior of a friend? Is that how you show support to a friend who is grieving? I consider that hiding. As for cooperating with the investigation, I am sure the behavior is similar. |
||||
I cannot imagine the pain that you are going through and I, in no means, mean to belittle that. If it were my daughter or friend that was the victim I would be beside myself. I am sure that I would scrutinize the actions of anyone I thought might be responsible for the hideous act. With respect to his actions towards you after the funeral (or lack of actions) I cannot speak to that but can only presume that it would be hard to be there for people who may believe that you are the one responsible for the situation. But, I also think that it would be incredibly difficult (for the accused and his family) to deal with being in the center of this controvery...especially if he is innocent. Until such time that he is proven guilty - he is presumed innocent and the law affords him various rights. I do no think it is fair to impute guilt on a person who is merely exercising his constitutional rights (to the extent that is even what he is doing....does not sound like anyone has actual knowledge of what whether he has actually cooperated with an investigation or not!) or to call out his family for the same. I realize this is an incredibly frustrating situation (and that phrase does not even do it justice - more like a maddening or excruciating situation) and I think I am probably being just as judgmental by questioning you all....It is just that there are some very heft accusations (if he is proven innocent then they would constitute defamation pro se actually) being thrown around about both the accused and his family. |
