They fought to keep the separation of church and state and THAT is one of the fundamental ideals that America was created around. Religion is your personal freedom and mine and it does not belong in the public schools.

things arent what they c wrote:
<quoted text>
Maybe I am. Maybe he did not need more . What about the farmer not losing his wife? I try to see things as half full instead of half empty, is that so wrong. I try to see good and not let the bad overtake it , all though it comes close at times. I will not let the bad in life destroy me. I will not say no religion is wrong , I just chose to follow God,. Brainwashed or not.
Don't mater if he needed more or not ...it belonged to him !!..if the angel could persuade death not to take the wife ..why couldn't he save the cow too ??....moral of the story ?, don't let angels stay at your house ..they'll either hide your assets from you , or kill your pets

I love the road I'm on, and know it's way better
than the one I was on, and wish I'd switched long ago!
Some choice your god supposedly gives us. If someone put a gun to your head and said "You don't have to give me your wallet, but if you don't, I will kill you," is that really free will? It's no different from what God is doing.

Maybe the road you are on is better for you. That's fine. But you are wrong to expect everyone to walk the same road, and you're even more wrong to condemn those who do not wish to walk that road.

You make inflammatory comments and insult others because they're not delusional like you. Other people who identify as Christian have come in here and told you that you should consider being less hateful and that your comments are impelled by insanity. You are the one who needs to listen.

As for reading the bible, I have read both the new and old testaments. In fact, I went through the entire book with different colored highlighters and marked everything in the bible accordingly: orange is God being immoral, yellow is immoral acts condoned by the bible, green is that which is physically impossible/unscientific, and pink is contradictions. A few things had to be marked multiple colors here and there.

It's an immoral book for immoral people. If you actually take all of it seriously and believe we should follow the teachings of the bible, I hope that someone close to you has you committed.

while handling snakes for the lord. well last sunday this pastor also died when bitten from a rattlesnake
he had cared for the last 3 years, you see god would protect him from the snake bite, but god is not real or was out to lunch you pick, i wished all christians handled snakes.. just saying..Serpent-handling pastor dies from rattlesnake bite, just like his father

interesting. I wish you had not written the part about wishing all christians handled snakes. sopme Christians are decent people, and not complete idiots, and even on the caring side on many issues. And not all atheists are nice people or on the caring side on all issues. We need coalitions of the nicer persons, with good intentions, issue by issue on policies. Even many decent Christians support the First Amendment for example.
Please consider opposing the horrible type of Christian in particular, with all sorts of specific descriptions of what you think are the most horrible views and behaviors that they have. I bet I would agree with you, on most - like the horrible idea of threatening people with hell, persecution of gay persons, indoctrinating children, and the whole nonsense about last days and Armageddon - I call these types the Armageddon Welcoming and Facilitating Committee.

Do not assume all free-thinkers are good people and all Christians are bad, and idiots. They have been indoctrinated when young, and many have not found their way to freedom - among them people who have nice views about policy - like helping the poor and oppressed. Not all atheists are unselfish, either. The ones on topix are an especially impressive group, I think - of educated atheists with a social conscience. not all are like that. and you know the christians on topix are mostly nutty rightwing fundies, and typical of that type, but not of every Christian who exists.

There is a wonderful book I just read, by a man named Gary Richard, called Greeks and Romans Bearing Gifts. It talks about the influence of the study of Greek and Roman history - much of it read in Greek - by the Founders. That was a major source of their views about what should go into the Constitution, and the First Amendment as well, since they saw all the nonsense about Greek and Roman gods.
These fundies are not telling the truth. The colonies were founded by some religious zealots who were persecuted in their own countries, and who came here for their own freedom, but not for the freedom of everyone here. They persecuted folks who disagreed with them, and taxed them to support their own clergyi. The founders of the country - with the Cosntitution - knew this and did not want any Established religion on the national level. It took a while to get rid of it at the state level, however.

HOW WOULD YOU ANSWER?
In modern times, how has
“the true knowledge” become
known?
How have those embracing
the truth become “many”?
In what ways has accurate
knowledge been made
“abundant”?
I read that Jehovah witnesses belief that god kingdom was established in 1914. Also read that JW's believe that the generation born in 1914 would not pass away until all things "Armageddon" begins.

Question is how long is the generation that JW's believe in. I have read some information that they believe it is 100 years. That makes the date for start of Armageddon is 2014.

Is that what you believe also?

Not to many people live pass 107 years.

i come from the trench in the fight for equal rights for gays and over the years of protesting to trying to secure funds for aids medicines i've seen no christian out pouring so you'll forgive me for
throwing up in my own mouth at the very thought of the " good christians " you and i view the world like night and day. those same christians that you view as good are the same one at the end of the day still believe i'm like all gay are going to hell, i be careful there with the credit you extend. i thing credit is only due when earned, old fashioned i guess. what i said about the christians all playing with snakes was what i meant. i don't split hairs and i have no need for christians or muslins to name only two groups with blood on their hands. you miss need to come off that fence you sit on
i swear every time i read your post you seem to want to please everyone, pick a position once and a while. other than that i read your post like others all the time, just seems like times you rub me wrong way, now back to the god people. i understand with numbers and an sure some christians are good people, where are they? i have no clue, cause all the ones i know either are bigots or delusional, most times both. i hope you understand that i don't have to respect the religious among
us, no way, i view the religious christians as terrorist and nothing less, we all seem to agree that the muslins a segment are terrorist. what percent of christians you ask? 100 percent, teaching children about the bible and god, should be a crime but is not, the adults indoctrinate these kids early and later some of the same kids will fight wars for their god and state. it's sickening. it's a form of brainwashing that we allow even though we all know it's going on. i know this post will get some feed back but it's how i feel, i work with the local churches in my area cause the need is there for the poor. i used to not matter if someone was a member of a church but now it matters, the pastors all know i'm atheist and i never push freethinking onto not one but i wear a sign that says atheist volunteer, which speaks for itself. the fact is the bible preaches hate, the holy koran the same, if the atheist don't stand up and demand to be heard we will have no voice, and that's not going to happen. the mormon church just spent twenty million dollars on cali prop 8. which thankfully was struck down later in our courts. religion kills all things alive.

I wonder which "standardised" bible version would be used? Would there have to be a re-translation from the original Hebrew texts? The Greek or Latin texts that came after? or would people end up arguing over the meaning behind a version that has been translated and mistranslated over millennia?

Would Bible study be presented as a literal interpretation or presented as a group of symbolic teachings that are open to numerous interpretations?

There was this Christian who saw a scorpion floundering around in the water. He decided to save it by stretching out his finger, but the scorpion stung him. The man still tried to get the scorpion out of the water, but the scorpion stung him again.
A man nearby told him to stop trying to save the scorpion that kept stinging him.
But the Christian said: "It is the nature of the scorpion to sting. It is my nature to love. Why should I give up my nature to love just because it is the nature of the scorpion to sting?"
Don't give up loving. Don't give up your goodness. Even if people around you sting.

Public Advocate

The Radical Homosexuals infiltrating the United States Congress have a plan:

Indoctrinate an entire generation of American children with pro-homosexual propaganda and eliminate traditional values from American society.

Their ultimate dream is to create a new America based on sexual promiscuity in which the values you and I cherish are long forgotten.

I hate to admit it, but if they pass the deceptively named "Student Non-Discrimination Act," (H.R. 998 & S. 555) that's exactly what they'll do.

Better named the "Homosexual Classrooms Act," its chief advocate in Congress is Rep. Jared Polis, himself an open homosexual and radical activist.

Talk about SICK indoctrination!
