If you are willing to label someone a "leftie" then you clearly have the potential of calling someone out of their name in a "racial" way...case closed

Nicki wrote: I really got angry when this lady was talking about the red in the flag representing the blood of the men and women who have died for our freedom since she is disrespecting them. As an active-duty military wife and Iraq veteran, I would like for her to know how offensive this display is, especially near Veteran's day. I hope her HOA sues her and forces the flag to either be displayed properly or taken down. HA HA HA! This woman thinks that the HOA should sue her in a court of law(ie. the judicial branch of government) and force her with a court order to remove the offending object(ie. government intervention in a private citizens life) thereby preventing this person from exercising her right to freedom of speech and expression(protected by the Constitution) so that it conforms to what THIS woman believes is proper. So what was it exactly our soldiers died to protect Nicki...? YOUR freedom - or OUR freedom. You really ought to check yourself lady because your hypocrisy is very unbecoming...

FYI, when Obama was born Hawaii was not a state yet. Yeah, Yeah - and McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone which isn't a US state RIGHT NOW. So, what's your point? You birthers have too much free time...

"I do not think that it's right for people to go to prison if they cannot afford to pay their fine and pay for healthcare," says Orr. OMG. She hasn't even BOTHERED to read the bill. What an ASS!!!

I can't believe someone would disrespect the flag in that manner! I think if you would like to display a protest put up a sign. There are actually very strict rules on how you are supposed to keep a flag and most people do not follow them.

Actually the health care would be mandated and if you didn’t have it which would be a question on your taxes there would be a fine but if you did a tax credit......now I am no genius and don’t claim to be but if you have a fine that is not paid, do you not get a warrant for your arrest and therefore jail time?????????? So why do they call it common sense when it is not very common especially on Topix?

What's she done is totally disrespectful to the flag. Her issue is not with the flag - so, she shouldn't use it as a means to try and convey her opinion. How sad for veterans that live in her community - to have someone living amongst them that doesn't care about respecting the symbol of the freedom that they've fought for - even for people like her!

Through out the history of this great country there have been numerous disagreements between the lawmakers and citizens of this nation. I fought for that flag and I may not have agreed with the purpose of the war in which I was involved with I sure did not desecrate the flag by hanging it upside down or in any other way. This is not the appropriate message to be sending to our solders. There are more appropriate ways for voicing your disagreement with the political winds.

I feel very bad since Mrs. Orr had to take her flag down. I don't have an American flag to fly in sympathy for her but I am going to fly my confederate flag upside down in memory of her.

What I do not understand is there was a story on yesterdays news about a woman who desperately needed dental care. She was on medicare but required over $100 copay to get the dental care she needed. Will the healthcare reform help her aford dental care?

Maybe one of these constitutional scholars on here can help you.

So why do they call it common sense when it is not very common especially on Topix? Uh, the word fine does not appear in the bill...It is a 2.5% TAX on those over a certain income level who refuse to get coverage. This amount is to cover their use of services, which, due to potential liabilities cannot be denied even if they do not have insurance. This tax is capped at the amount that premiums would have cost. This does not apply to those who have coverage via other means (Veteran's Benefits, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, etc). And yes, there are monetary penalties if you do not pay your taxes. The bill calls for jail for those whose failure to pay stems from an attempt to commit fraud, same as with any other unpaid taxes. How many people go to jail for unpaid parking fines? How many people go to jail for unpaid library fines? How many people go to jail for fines stemming from late payment of property taxes... As for common sense, I would not be proud of being "common" if I were you.... Whether you agree with the bill or not, people who act like jackasses should read up or SHUT UP! She did neither.

This woman is entitled to disagree if she is informed. She clearly is not. And hanging a flag upside down is disrespectful and stupid and proves that she is too clueless to bother understanding our flag or our country...

She is right. If you decide not to pay your taxes, you can join the other tax cheaters in the Obama administration. Maybe you can be the Treasury Secratery. Then you wouldn't need the health coverage since they would be exempt like the Pres and Senators and House members. They will be getting great health benefits for life. You say where does it say that? It is part of the back room deals that we will not see officially until and if this becomes law.
