How would Dr. Fanning correct the fact that over 19 people die every week in the state of alabama alone because they cannot afford insurance? that's more then 1000 deaths each year.

My husband and I have no insurance and he is the only one working--wonder if Dr. Fanning would be willing to see and treat us and provide any meds at a rate we can afford. Cobra wanted $800 a MONTH for insurance for 2 of us. We could afford to have a roof over our head and eat or we could get insurance. Our rent is only $465. Somehow I do not think Dr. Fanning would even let us in his door!

Of course they do not want anyone interferring with their huge profit making. What a joke! Ask any local government employee at Redstone arsenal or NASA/MSFC how great their taxpayer government health insurance is? They want to have the best benefits for themselves but not for anyone else. The same for the local doctors, insurance companies, etc. Get behind this plan and all health insurance cost will decrease when they have to compete with the government sponsored plan. I know - I use to work for the insurance giant in AL and they laugh at everyone as they make huge profits.

It is an exhausting process but I went through the phone book and called until I got a smypathetic ear and I worked out a deal with a doctor. You can too, try it.

There is already someone coming between the American People and Healthcare and it is the insurance companies. We all need to push for Medicare for all.

We all have been getting ripped off by the Medical sector. 2 years ago I had to run to the emergency room with a bad stomach ache. First thing they did was give me a nitrogliceron (spelling) pill. I was like what for? Then they gave me an IV of saline. Again, what for? I had a bad stomach ache. Then I got ex-rays, What for? Then I the doctor comes in and asks, "What seems to be the problem". I said stomach ache. He felt of my head and said you dont have a fever and you must have this 24 hour bug but you will be ok. Well I told the folks I didnt have insurance FROM THE BEGINNING and really couldnt afford this. They said, awe dont worry about that, we just want you well...WELL they sent me a bill for $1000 for a 5 hour ordeal and for 30 minutes actual work. I was pissed and wanted them to collect. My dad said no, lets settle. Well we called and asked how much would you charge an insurance company, the lady said $450, then we said we would pay $450 and settle, she accepted. Why in the hell didnt they just charge me $450? SCREW the medical folks, No wonder Americal is #26 in the world. France is #1 btw and they dont charge a thing if you get sick. LETS GET REAL PEOPLE!!!!!! Lets call our Jackasses in Washington and get this thing PASSED!!!!

I don't like the fact that ins.com pany's charge so much for insurance and I certanily do not want the government involved in controling my which doctors I can see and for waht reasons I can see them. I am not sure everyone knows how restrained we will be if the government starts controling the medical care.

Why does this say " doctors"? Only one doctor is mentioned in the article! Doctors = two or more. Are you trying to deceive the public?(Not that I'm for the health plan, but the headline is deceptive!)

You people are silly. Certainly Dr Fanning is not the solution to healthcare. But how many of you have read the proposal and know what is in it. Ill betcha Dr Fanning did. You dont have a word to say until you read it and know what the trade off is. It is rediculous how may people blast off their mouth before they know what they are talking about. There is one item in there that says they are going to tax your poor little grandma for that pace maker or poor little uncle charlie for that hip replacement. WHAT IS THE TRADE FOR ???FREE??? HEALTHCARE. DO YOU READ THE CONTRACT BEFORE YOU BUY THE CAR.

Dr. Fanning, the insurance companies are already between doctor and patient. How do insurance companies make a profit? By limiting treatment, or denying it completely for 'pre-existing conditions'. Medicare for everyone. NOW!

Why do you expect FREE medical serivces? Do you work for FREE or even work? America has too many hand outs alaready(welfare, project housing) Grow up America-support yourself. Go to Canada or France if you think it's better. WHO do you think pays the doctors? The people WHO work & pay taxes. I was raised to work for what you want. No, I didn't go to college, my husband & I work 2 jobs to make ends meet. Maybe we should quit & let you support us. Love it or Leave it...if you stay...speak English or go back where others speak your language & let them support you!

The bottom line of this entire issue is money. If a million docs attend the rally, they can call it the million millionaire march. The USA is the only country in the world where people profit from someones misery. If we walk into a doctors office or hospital, the FIRST thing they ask for is your insurance card or how can you pay them. Other country's ask you "how can they help you". The health care industry is profit driven and out of control. The health care bill is far from perfect but at least it is a start to reform. I would rather my grand mother be taxed to death for her hip surgery rather then be kicked to the curb and left to die.

I think it is obvious that the "good" doctor is just the typical rich man who only cares about fattening his wallet, and not the people who have trouble paying the bills. He just wants one Insurance Company to continue handling 90% of health insurance claims in Alabama. They charge people what they want and reject whoever they want, without any fear of competition. We in Alabama are the perfect example of why THIS Healthcare bill should pass. We NEED competition!

Yes something needs to be done but government healthcare is not the answer. Yes people die in Alabama every day...but how many people die every day in Canada because they were waiting in a long line for life saving treatments. If the government wants control how about they do something to help stop some of the health problems...cigarettes cause cancer and many health related issues yet this product is still on the market making lots of revenue for it's shareholders and lots of taxes going to the government. Why not take this harmful product off the market? 2. Make healthy food more affordable and available to more people. 3. the government could provide gyms that anyone could workout in to stay fit and healthy.
The bottom line is this problem isn't going to be solved over night.

I can assure that Dr. Fanning is only one voice speaking for many doctors---myself included. When you have sat down and read all 19 POUNDS of this proposal...you will see why many of us will be leaving the practice of medicine. To the idiot that thought France would say "how can I help you...what a joke?" Is not even worth telling the real stories that come from Euorpe. Free medical care? Dont't you deserve free food too? What about electricity? Sure...changes are needed? Read the proposal. You've got a computer. It will take atleast three days.

@mdfamily, I agree. The entitlement mentality these days is amazing. Do these people expect to be paid when they work? Sure they do! How much do they think 27 years of education costs? How much do they think office space is? How much do they think our staff is? How much do they think malpractice insurance costs? All that has to be paid BEFORE a physician can take their salary and often what's left is less than what a mechanic makes an hour! Oh, and by the way, we also often work the equivalent, in hours, of two or three full-time jobs!
