Bad Check Roundup: Madison County Investigators Round Up People They Say Wrote Worthless Checks

Why do people write checks when they clearly know they have no money.This does not even make any since to me they don't even deserve the chance to pay the checks off because,they know better these are adults were talking about,or excuse me thats what there supposed to be.Take all of there thieving asses to jail maybe then the will learn.As long as you keep giving them the chance to pay it off they are going to keep doing it.

Take all the delinquent credit card and home owners to jail too. Oh what our our jails are big enough!

people write bad checks to buy narcotics. they cant write a bad check to the dope dealer -- that's a death sentence immediately -- so they con a country store or some other place eager for a little business. lots of addicts are being held on bad checks, not narcotics, charges.

How does the DA's Office figure they can return approximately 300k to local business owners when the people had no money in their bank accounts to begin with. Some will go to prison, some to the City-County Jail and yes, some will make restitution, but can ALL of them? I doubt it.

What's the difference between writing a bad check and receiving welfare and food stamps when you don't need them or could actually work instead of mooching off the taxpayers. I mean all these losers are getting food, clothes, X Boxes, toys, and whatever from money they don't deserve and didn't earn. So are the bad check writers.....so what's the difference. One is gov't sanctioned and the other is not. Other than that......?

I was arrested for writing bad checks once. I went before the judge and asked him how much was my fine?$2,500 he said. I went to the front desk, pulled out my check book, and wrote a check to pay the fine. I was back on the street in 5 hours. I wonder if that check bounced?

I believe it is wrong for many people to go out and write bad checks knowing they do not have the money to cover the expenses. However, I also believe that for some it may be a means of survival and taking care of their family. Don't get me wrong, I am sure that many do write bad checks for the pure heck of it. I think that in today's economy it is really hard to survive. There are hardly any job openings and many are having to do what they can to support their family. I don't think writing bad checks is right, but I do think there are more reasons for doing it than drugs or stealing.

Are you guys really defending these people. They are worthless pieces of trash. I hope they nail them all.

In this great country of ours, we do not have "debtors prisons" for those owing money (with the exception of child support and taxes). I am so happy for you, that you have never experienced financiial difficulties in making your trailer payment.

I love the guy in the Auburn shirt arrested last night and showed on Channel 19.He kept saying "if you show me on TV I will sue your station". Good job showing the dude. Don't write bad checks and you won't be embarrassed on the news. Looser

You are hinting it's ok to write bad check in some situations?? No No No! With that kind of reckoning, it's ok for people to break into you house if they are hungry,it's ok to take your big screen tv if they can't afford one,and cart off anything they can pawn for their "survival". With your strange bleeding heart attitute, why bother to lock your house or take the keys out of your car. Let those in "need" help themselves.

Writing bad checks for ANY reason is stealing! So it's to survive you say? Like for food or rent? Why not just shoplift what you need and save paper!!

Your spelling & writing skills are a joke. Who wants to hire anyone that can't spell & write simple english? Your math skills are probably even worst. You need to be able to add & subtract to have a bank account. That's why you have no money in the bank or your pocket. All you get is a little welfare check. Drawing welfare from the hard working taxpayers. On "the draw" you are. You can either learn the basic skills needed to function in a modern world, or you can live like a caveman.
