Like it was said above THERE IS NO NATURAL PREDATOR FOR THE COYOTES OTHER THAN MAN, its a no win situation unfortunatly over population has depleted the coyotes hunting grounds,....id say get rid of some people and make room for the coyote to hunt ,now that's not gonna happen anytime soon. ..so they must do what is best for humans ,and that would be ....yup you guessed it one is to relocate them ,...two is to trap and put to sleep,..or just plain eradicate them all .....sucks for the coyote but I would not mant to read a headline saying small child was taken by hungry cayo to feed he's own,.....

I'd like to know where all these coyotes are hiding on in HB, cause ive NEVER seen even one! The only place I have seen them is down by the river in Capistrano.
I've lived in HB since 1965 and I'll tell you where they live...they come right down the Navy railroad tracks from the Seal Beach Naval Weapons Center. I see them every night & if you look to either side of the road when traveling down Westminster Ave., between Bolsa Chica and Seal Beach Blvd., you'll see them too, in broad daylight.

the coyotes in hb are not too bad of a problem, simply cause there presence is so little in the town.
but, i think a more practical solution would be to get a BIG dog, such as a german shepherd/rott/pitbull.
these breeds can be friendly with children and will even protect them with there lives, and will fend off coyotes with no problem... coyotes wont even wanna get near. also, if you find it such a problem.... simply dont let your kids in the backyard without your supervision. coyote extermination cant, and will never happen in hb, simply cause there is not a set location to find them... they are up and down the santa ana riverbed, through the nature reserves, through many of places... to completely eradicate them would be a very tedious task. anyway.. i mean no disrespect to any of you. just be part of the solution and not the problem!!
