Frank Girardot: Let's give Bell a new name

Full story: Whittier Daily News

Sometimes, when things go wrong, it takes a bold move to turn it around. For example: When hundreds of Baldwin Park residents got hot about having their cars taken by the Police Department and auctioned off to cover a budget hole, the City Council reversed course and softened its policies.

A fella named James George Bell put his name on the map in several places. Bell Gardens, City of Bell, and Bel Air.

The recent events in the City of Bell along with the lifestyle of the residents contrasts sharply against that of Bell Gardens and Bel Air. That is what happens when you vote for people for the sole reason that they share a surname with your tribe. If you stop voting for people who have a name that ends with a vowel, you'll be much better served.

Baldwin Park is corrupt. Manuel Lozano, Marlen Garcia, and Monica Garcia are the CORRUPT politicians collecting money in exchange for special favors.

Favors like allowing Royal Coaches not to get proper permits, use land illegally, tow excessively, skimming of the top on contruction projects, hiring buddies in the city council, exessive fee's for permits, harassing of citizens and businesses who do not agree with their radical views, banning drive-thru's, banning automotive shops, banning warehouses... the list goes on and on...

These corrupt politicians are not only corrupt, but economically illiterate. Or I should say they are good with money, as long as its used to line their own pockets...

Bell is a city that is home to God only knows how many illegals. The residents of Bell got what they deserved and paid for. Now they're crying murder - after the fact. What they need to do now, in order to redeem themselves - yes, themselves - after all it was their elected officials - they need to deport every illegal alien, and declare themselves Americans - not Mexican-Americans. When they've accomplished that, and not until, they can then become an American city in the Los Angeles, CA area and start to rebuild their reputation. Changing the name of the city is what a coward’s group of individuals would do.

Frank,

Your last name can't be an alternative either. You got too much time on your hand. What a way to earn a living.

Stick to Bell because out of this mess, Bell signifies the awakening of whore media (except LA Times, seemingly the only real investigative newspaper in SoCal), lemmings, blind loyalty and indifference to the real heroes of local issues, the velified watchdogs and gadflies.

From now on, greedy and corruct politicians and bureuacrats can't bellified the taxpayers and watchdogs anymore.

Frank: Apparently you can't admit that there is an elephant in the room. Some previous commentors have been very specific about it but it becomes even more apparent if you find something in common in each of the city governments of Huntington Park, Bell, Bell Gardens, Montebello and Pico Rivera. The only way we can ever right this growing problem is to enact a statewide law that requires all candidates for positions of power, justice and governance to be fit for the job they are seeking without regard to race, creed or color. They should be carefully vetted and screened for past actions as well as morality, intelligence and qualifying experience. This should be done prior to their names being added to any ballot. We know that voters often vote for their own "kind" regardless of what kind of person it is.

The city of Bell earned its reputation. The citizens earned theirs as well for standing up to the greed and making change happen. Now if other cities could do as well.

Another dumb write up by this Girardot character. Yea, Bell has some problems like corruption, but to change its name will solve nothing.

A rose by any other name is still a rose, and a Bell by any other name is still a city disgraced by corrupt, greedy politicians. They took advantage of the community that they were sworn to serve and protect. If justice is served they will all go to jail. Kudos to Basta4Bell. The sleeping giant has awakened.

Baldwin Park will NOT STOP being CORRUPT until we REMOVE Manuel Lozano, Marlen Garcia, and Monica Garcia.

The rest of the CRONIES will fall as soon as we REMOVE these disgusting politicians from our office. We must get rid of these corrupt politicians.

They're living lavishly on the expense of the hardworking people in our city.

Do you know how much PERMITS cost in Baldwin Park.
10x as much as any other City.

Did you know, Baldwin Park Politicians have measures to INHIBIT GROWTH in various areas?

Did you know, Baldwin Park Politicians have BANNED Drive-Thru's?

Did you know all these things?

Probably not... But Marlen Garcia, Manuel LOzano, and Monica Garcia are continually destroying Baldwin Park. We need to rid our city of these CORRUPT politicians.

We will work together to END THE CORRUPTION!

I like your idea but how will it be decided who can run for office? Would there be a "committee" to check out every possible candidate for office. And who check out the committee if there was to be one.

Let's change Bsldwin Park to Bolen Parque just for Monica the bimbo really loves that name. I think Hadsell deserves an award for most crimes hidden and most shootings in this size city.

Daily Horoscope for June 3

Gemini

Do a little lateral thinking today and it will work wonders. Don't feel hidebound because you're supposed to do things in a certain way, because this is a great opportunity to try a different approach for a change. Even so, you may have to play down your unorthodox technique when talking to anyone who sticks rigidly to convention.
