It turns out this wasn't the first time Petrone was arrested on drunken driving charges. Since 2003, he's been accused of driving while impaired twice in Davie County, and he was arrested on drunken driving charges six months ago in Forsyth County.
Petrone has also been booked on drug charges three times and driving with a revoked license four times -- never spending more than 30 days in jail.
Now, Petrone is facing charges of second degree murder and driving while impaired for the wreck that killed a 22-year-old just starting life after college.
Since his arrest, Petrone is no longer an employee at Midtown Sundries. He scheduled to make his first appearance in court Tuesday afternoon.

Well, maybe this time the courts will have had enough of him and his drunken habits. Perhaps now he will finally do some hard time in prison. How sad that someone had to die.

Someone said he wasn't going to court til July, has he already been to court: and that was his sentence?

Yes he only got 5 1/2 months for killing a wonderful young man.

You all have it so wrong. Get the facts of the case and you'll realize why he only got 5 months. This was a tragic accident. Petrone was not DUI. DUI charges dropped. Felony manslaughter - no time. Hit-n-run - 5 1/2 months. Do you think you have all the facts? Do you think you're being honest? Or did you, like the media, "jump at a story." This is a tragic case, however, I don't believe you have all the facts. You've convinced yourself that Petrone was a drunk killer. Probably because that's what you read. Opps. Mistake. Even the 5.5 months was questionable. Sorry. That's the fact. Go find another story to "jump on". Maybe, just maybe, there is something to this story you don't know. Nine witnesses. All clammed up when questioned. One witness spoke. Sentence? 5.5 months. Good day.

JustDfactsMan---before you "jump on the facts" how about you understand the facts yourself. I was in the court room during the sentencing of Petrone. First of all, why you even decided to chime in on this discussion with a completely morbid response blows my mind. This was a PLEA setting...it WASN'T a trial. Petrone admitted to drinking that night and he blew over the legal limit the next morning when they found him. The reason he wasn't charged with a DUI was because this was a plea bargain in which case the defense and prosecutors came to an agreement to drop the DUI (very typical process for a plea agreement). He wasn't just given 5.5 months on the Hit and Run charge. The felony involuntary manslaughter and hit and run were reduced to a "split sentence" in which case the maximum amount you can receive in the state of NC for a "split sentence" is 5.5 months. He also received 3-5 years of probation (the other part of the split sentence) in which he is required to wear an alcohol monitoring device called a SCRAM bracelet. If he violates probation, he serves the maximum amount of the involuntary manslaughter charge of 19-23 months. Have you even looked at Petrone's past record? Do you realize how many chances he's been given? If he's not a drunk killer, then what the hell is he?? He took the life of an innocent young man walking home from the bar..doing the RIGHT thing. Petrone didn't even break after hitting Patrick...he kept going on with his business. In my mind that justifies him being a drunk killer. Any normal human being with a conscience stops when hitting something, especially when their car is totaled and the windshield is completely shattered. This derelict didn't even bother stopping. Yes, there were 9 other people walking home with Patrick that night but NONE of them saw the actual accident as Patrick was in the back of the line so they weren't in a position to comment....not quite sure where you are getting they "all clammed up when questioned." I'm going to guess you're a friend of Petrone (one of the couple he may actually have) that is trying to stick up for him. Please let me know who you are, where you're getting your facts, and why you're bothering trying to justify Petrones actions when an innocent life was taken. For God's sake, the man had a revoked license...he shouldn't have even been on the road to begin with. If he had never stepped foot in his car that evening, none of this would've happened, so don't why don't you get your damn facts straight before you "jump at a story." Have fun visiting your buddy Petrone in the slammer...and in 5.5 months, have an even better time going out with him...oh wait, he can't drink for 3-5 years. Get a life. Anonymous, it's obvious that you are emotionally tied to this. I am not. I understand your outburst. My response was not morbid. I don't think you're revealing all the facts though. I know what people reported seeing that night, before Petrone was unfortunate enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Like I said before, this is a tragic accident. If you are close to this case, I understand your anger. Yes, the nine did one right thing by walking home. However, the nine were not necessarily doing all the right things. I'm not seeking to lessen the tragedy. However, I'm not so sure you're revealing all the facts. You're persecuting a person while not revealing all of what is known to have happen (or be reported by witnesses) that tragic evening.
I'm not justifying anyones actions. ANYONES. The fact of the matter, in this case, is that alcohol has once again claimed another victim. The DA is a well respected and savvy DA. The results (sentence) are not consistent with the story you (and others in this chain) have portrayed. There is something not being told here. It doesn't add up.

Bac.l2 He rec'd l5 years Max 5 years probation, can't drive, ankle monitor and intoxylizer on vehicle, but he can't drive. N.C. Statutes do not mean shiat to Charlotte, N.C. It's all political games.

I don't understand how he got away with this, but my son was drunk and killed 2 people and he got 12 yrs. It's just not fair, and I want my son home with me, not in prison. Brock Franklin had the worse lawyer in the world. If he had done his job maybe Brock would have gotten off with probation. We can't do anything to bring those 2 people back that my son killed, but we can try to get my son out of prison.

Mr. Bill I meant what I said in my earlier post. I do want Brock home with me, where he belongs. He didn't do anything wrong, it was merely an accident, it could have happen to anyone. He didn't realize that he was drunk, I really think he friends slipped him something. I can't prove it, but I know that's what happened.

Hate to disappoint everyone but Petrone will be out in a year.
They need to go after everything he has. He should be homeless when he gets out.
I bet he he could be deported if he came to the US. But politicians love immigrants, legal or illegal, and he will not be.
