You've probably heard of most of these before, but I thought I'd post them up anyway. I've been looking for recent and historic accounts for a year or two after finding a newspaper article about an "ape-man" being found dead on the railroad tracks near Greenville in the mid 1800's. A lot of these come from the various bigfoot field research organizations and are readily available online, but hopefully there's something somewhere here that you haven't heard of yet.
Mid 1820’s?--Deer Isle, ME-- From An Historical Sketch of Deer Island, Maine by George L. Hosmer, 1886; “When the first settlers came here, the island was an unbroken wilderness. No evidences were found indicating that it had ever been occupied by white men, and probably but few had ever landed upon its shores. The Indians had made some parts of it places of occupancy, at certain seasons of the year, for the purpose of obtaining a supply of food from the clam-flats, and evidences of their occupancy were to be
found where those shellfish were in great abundance, and the depth of the shells in the ground shows that they must have been centuries in accumulating, and they also cover, in many places, considerable space.
When the land was plowed, the spots occupied by their wigwams were easily discernible, and it is probable that the times of their visitation were at such times when other food was not so easily obtainable. Occasionally skeletons have been found, and at one time two were discovered under the roots of a large hard-wood tree: it had grown to a large size and was in a state of decay, when it was blown over during a storm. One was that of a person of ordinary size, the other of one who was at least eight feet in height, and between the ribs of the larger one was found the head of a dart made of copper. They lay nearly side by side, and had been probably engaged in mortal conflict, the larger one .mortally wounded by the smaller, and the
smaller probably fell by the hands of the larger. This conflict must have happened a long time before discovery, as they must have lain upon the ground, and the tree which grew over them must have been a
long time in attaining its growth. They were found nearly sixty years ago, and a medical man then residing in the town gathered up the skeleton of the larger one and preserved it; upon putting the bones
together, he stated that the height of the man was what is above stated.“
21 January 1855--Waldoboro, ME-- J.W. McHenry chopping wood heard loud screams coming from a wooded area near his home. Upon looking up, he saw an 18 inch creature with black hair. He is said to have captured it and kept it as a pet.
1856--near Greenville, ME--“Ape-man” found dead on railroad tracks, apparently hit by a train.(newspaper article)
1946--Bigelow Mountain, ME-- Four dowzers(?) were startled when they stopped along a trail to eat lunch and instead saw an enormous man walking toward them in the distance that was well over 10 feet tall. He had long hair like Indians in movies & was covered in short black hair over the rest of his body. He carried what looked like a big rock. They left the area immediately..

Part 2

1949--Bigelow Mountain, ME-- A man named Burn White saw a 7-foot creature standing on the side of the road at 1AM. Another person reported seeing the creature at an earlier date.
Early 1960’s--Worcester, Oxford County, ME-- Woman sees a large, hairy, two-legged animal several times near her home. Animal made loud, scream-like sounds.
1970 November --Near Long Pond, Baxter State Park, ME--An environmental biologist smells a musky odor, finds extremely large human-like scat, has a tree pushed down roughly 100 yards in front of him, as well as a loud drumming noise (described as “a partridge on steroids,” similar to gorilla chest thumping). The following day he, along with two veterinarians, searched for the source of the smell, scat, and thumping, and encounter the thumping again, this time having rocks thrown at them.
1973 July --Brunswick and Durham, ME--Several witnesses across the space of a month saw a large (roughly 5-foot tall) bipedal ape-like creature with shaggy black fur. Footprints were found, and a search involving more than 30 State Police and a police helicopter, which was unsuccessful, was begun. The Androscoggin County Deputy Sherriff estimated the weight of the creature at 300-350 pounds based on the depth of the footprints.
1973 or 74 July-- I-95 Southbound, North of Bangor, Penobscot County, ME-- A large upright hairy creature with long arms crossed the highway from the left median to the median on the opposite side of the highway.
1974 June 25--Kennebunk/York, York County, ME--Camper hears unusual vocalizations at night from an unidentified animal.

I've got a listing of 30-40 sighting, trackways, and a few other relevent things that I put together (after coming across an article from the 1850's of an "ape-man" being found dead near Greenville), but I can't seem to be able to post it all here. Do you have a website or something that I could send it to?

You are all to late I bagged big foot last year up my Mt Katahdin. I would let you see him but you wouldn't believe me and well I don't want the public to know. When society is ready I will let everyone see him.

Hi
My son was in the woods in penobscot county Maine and saw a creature standing in front of him with long brown hair and 8 to 9 feet tall and it was what my son had said it looked like a large man but covered with long brown hair. My son is a outdoorsman and hunts and fishes avidly. The look in the creatures eyes scared my son so bad that he came back shaking and crying. My son is a level
headed young man. So what ever was out there was real. Thank you June 2008

About 10 years ago in North New Portland, on my wife's family land, I came across an unbearable stench in a thick area of the woods. I walked away and went North about 1/2 mile. I turned to go back and it was as if the stench had followed. When i got to the house, the smell was gone and could not find it again. Still keeping my eyes and nose open.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Scorpio

You're in a very romantic and sentimental state today. You're also feeling quite sensitive and vulnerable, so you won't want to be around anyone you find abrasive or aggressive. If you meet someone for the first time now you'll think they're wonderful and your relationship will always involve putting them on a pedestal. But don't be too idealistic. They are human, remember!
