Hi everyone! I am trying to start a crafting guild for our local area. I have a friend on the East coast that is a part of one of these and she really has a lot of fun.

Here are the basics:
You can be any kind of crafter. Anything from sewing to wood work or anything in between. Females and Males are both welcome.
The idea of this is to get to know other people and learn from each other. The idea came from a friend of mine that lives in New Jersey. She is a part of a group like this; in fact a lot of people are getting together in different parts of the country to do this.

I do not have a set plan yet and am open for ideas. I would like to know some things like:
How often would you like to meet? Weekly, bi-weekly, monthly?
Would you want the meetings at one location or would you like to rotate the meetings from one member’s home to another member’s home much like a ladies prayer group does?
Would you like to have a scheduled craft to be done at each meeting? This would be where we would choose a project at the meeting and the next meeting we would bring the supplies that we need to make the craft.
Would you be interested in teaching others how to do the crafts that you do?
Would you be interested in doing crafts for charity? For instance, the children’s hospital in St Louis asks for preemie caps for the babies in their units, cook children’s hospital in Texas asks for pillow cases for the children. Those are just some examples. There are many organizations that ask for items, also there is always a local cause happening, we could consider making items for craft fairs and the money to be donated to the cause or to be used as a raffle item to raise money for local charity events.
Would you be interested in doing craft swaps? For instance quilting guilds will have block swaps and in the end everyone has enough blocks to create a quilt and each block was from a different person. So it makes it very interesting.
How about working together to share a booth at events? Sometimes those booths cost a lot of money. If two or more people went together they could split the cost of the booth.
These are just some of the ideas that I have for now. If you are interested in getting together, or helping to organize this please let me know.
