Jackie recently moved back to Springfield to start her new business, J. Stiles Total Training. She will be hosting holiday events in support of Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks, including Thanksgiving and Christmas Clinics as well as a New Year’s Eve Party for kids.
Jackie’s Clinics will be held at Southwest Sports Complex, 2135 N. Sports Complex Lane in Nixa, MO. The Thanksgiving Clinic is on November 27th, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and will include lunch for $75. The Christmas Clinics will be held December 28th, 29th and 30th from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm for $60. The “New Year’s Eve Party with Jackie” at the Pat Jones YMCA is from 6 pm to 1 am on December 31st. The party will include swimming, games, prizes, basketball and much more for only $75 per child.
Jackie Stiles attended Missouri State University from 1998-2001. While there, she became the first and only NCAA Division I women’s player to score more than 1,000 points in a season, with 1,062 in her senior year. She won the Wade Trophy, as well as the Broderick Cup. In 2000, she competed with USA Basketball as a member of the Jones Cup Team and won Gold in Taipei. She also holds the NCAA Division I career women’s basketball scoring title with 3,393 points.
In 2001, Jackie was drafted fourth overall by the Portland Fire and won Rookie of the Year that year. Since then, Stiles has had numerous surgeries, which greatly hindered her WNBA career. After an all-star record setting career in women’s basketball, Jackie retired in 2006 and has recently come back to Springfield to teach and train.
Jackie is not only a basketball great but has a great heart for the Ronald McDonald House. Jackie’s youngest sister spent time at the Ronald McDonald House with a condition that weakened her muscles, before passing away before her first birthday. Jackie’s co-organizer with the events for Ronald McDonald House, Dave Almany, also has a personal tie to the charity. Dave is the director of the hugely successful Licking Summer Camps and the Head Men & Women’s Cross Country and Track Coach at Fontbonne University. His collegiate teams have won numerous Conference championships over the past two years. Dave’s camps began in Licking in 1993, but have for the past five year’s been headquartered out of Rolla, MO where they have grown to one of the nations most successful, with over 16,000 participants last summer. Dave’s granddaughter suffered a serious injury in 2004 and his family spent months at the Ronald McDonald House of the Ozarks during her recovery. Jackie and Dave are very passionate about giving back to the community that has given them so much support!
Almany commented that Stiles is a great representative of all that is good in the world of basketball.“Jackie was a great player, one of the best ever,” said Almany,“but since I have gotten to know her over the last year, I can tell you she is an even better person.”
Stiles’ hope is that those from the surrounding areas of Springfield will also attend the holiday events.“We set up the Thanksgiving Clinic so that parents could drop their kids off for the clinic and then get in a whole day of shopping.”
