The Trembly Boat Company, as far as I know, was founded by Leo Tremblay who is no longer living. He had two sons, Louie and Ronnie. The boat company was managed by Ronnie for a period of time but don't think that is the case any more. Mr. Leo was a wonderful man who took kids skiing on weekends. He had discs and small boats, along with skiis, and is a wonderful memory for many kids in Chiefland. The boat company was located off the main street close to a shopping street, not Wal Mart. So was the Tremblay home.

I lived in that area in the late 80s and bought some boat supplys there. Do you know of anyone fishing in that area now , or if they oyster and crab still or are those industries shut down like net fishing was? Thanks for the reply. RichardKCMo |

I see there is interest in My families boat company. I am Ron's oldest son and worked with bothe Grandpa and Dad for many years until the late 90s. I would be glad to answer any and all questions that any might have. Tremblay Boats started building boats in the early 60's and continued building them even after the Bullsh*t net ban. Dont get me wrong the net ban almost killed the Bird Dog boat but a few of the net fishermen started farming litleneck clams and others were and are used for Oysterboats. Dad designed a flats fishing boat that was very well liked by the flats fishermen especially the Mirrorlure guys if I can remember right. The original shop was rite in the middle of town near our Post office later we moved out to the industrial park for the last years dad had the business. Grandpa had a stroke in the mid 90s and had to stop working in the shop. Grandpa Died in March of 01 at 93

Hello Jonathan
I am interested in building a 16-18' motor forward Tremblay design skiff. Things I am curious about would be if there is any rocker designing into the hull and what size outboard would be ideal. Top speed of about 20 mph would be ideal, less would be fine also. I have watched these boats ride over some very skinny water on top of their bow wakes. Seems to me there is not a better design for running flats. Any info would be great, thanks! |

Thank you for making yourself available.
I purchaced your fathers 23' demo boat from his neighbor on the ? river. He was a retired dentist. I was hoping you could tell me the size of my gas tank. I never let it get low, so I dont know how much is left. The gague is vague. It is a 1989 23' transom driven model. I spoke to a Mr Tremblay (dont rember which one)about it and he did not remember. The boat has held up great. It is like fishing from a dock. 3 men standing shoulder to sholder on the gunnel and the boat does not tilt. Get lots of positive comments from old school fishermen. Any help would be appriciated. |

I am trying to figure out where the gas tanks and more specifically the sending units are located in our 27ft Tremblay. Have any ideas so that we can get our fishing boat back in operation?
You can email back at sandycam@mote.org. Thanks.

Bought my 24' bird dog in 1972(?), picked it up in Chiefland and spent some time with Mr. Leo. A "salt-of-the-earth" gentleman craftsman who built the best boat I've ever owned. I'd buy another in a heart-beat - or a Willie Harris Skiff built in Brunswick, Ga as my second choice. If anyone knows of either available, please let me know.
