Review: Heather Bennett Dancin'

I've seen this group perform at festivals and other events in the area. I found them to be a tad inappropriate. The costumes and the way these young girls dance are not suitable for the public eye. I would want my son or daughter dancing somewhere else. Other local studios are much better. For instance, the studio with the Irish Dance troup, "The Ring of Carrie" I believe, is fantastic. Though I'm not sure the name of the studio, they perform very well and seem very professional. I've also seen "Dancer's Alley", another studio in Horseheads, do very well. So I would not recomend Heather Bennet Dancing to the Rhythm.

My daughter dances at Heather Bennett's and the previous post is pure slander. Obviously her daughter or another friend or relative dances for Kerry Lea the Irish school. There is not one inch of her costumes that are innapropriate. Perhaps you saw the costumes Kerry Lea used for Ease on Down the Road they look like stripper costumes fro an adult store. Heather works very, very hard to make sure her girls costumes are very age appropriate and cover everything!!!

I could be wrong...I'm very sorry if I made a mistake. I could possibly have the wrong dance studio...I'm not sure. Also, I'm not aware of any of my relatives dancing at the Irish studio but I still do believe they present nicely, as do other studios in the area. Once again, I appoligize for the misunderstanding. There truely is no need to get defensive over something as silly as small-town dance studios.

I saw them dance and they weren't that enjoyable to watch. I thought all the dances looked the same. There's other schools that perform a lot better.

As a quick response (being that I danced at a few of these studios growing up), The Ring of Cherrye is at the studio "Let's Dance," right off of Hanover Square. It is great for Irish, but not much else. I was in the top class by the time I was 14 and was not given any tools to advance my dancing. The choreography is not great and the training is mediocre.
It might be good for younger children just starting out or if you are just interested in Irish dance.
Just thought I'd speak from experience :)
