Why do we thank God when someone gets well, instead of giving the thanks to the doctors, hospitals, and modern medicine, where it belongs? When they go bad, we sure as hell blame the doctor.

Nice attempt to cover your mistake. You can't even admit you erred in your sentence. I guess you are too full of yourself to admit you screwed up. Let's take another look at this again shall we?
" all truth or no truth SO HELP ME GOD!"
If you meant all truth or shut up, why didn't you just say so? Where can a reader interpret shut your mouth from what you wrote? No where. And this so help me god part,,,,is that like a threat? SO help me god what are you going to do? Oh my, she will cast me in a lake a fire because she thinks she has this power to control thought. Or do you mean that as some sort of weird oath. It only makes sense to you, because you may have read one book, but remedial English would be a nice addition to your bookshelf.
Now look, I simply asked about the power of prayer, if you can't explain it or show some examples, then it may be best that you heed your own indeciperable advice.
"WE COULD GIVE YOU ALL THE EXAMPLES IN THE WORLD AND YOU WOULD STILL SAY NAY! NO MATTER WHAT IS SAID IN TRUTH, YOU WOULD TURN THE WORDS AROUND TO SUIT YOU!" fine don't believe me or do but you need to answer to God not me for the truth is his not mine.

We should give all the thanks and praises to God for without God the knowledge would not be available to the Doctors to be able to do the things they do to help save a persons life. Sure they might go to college to learn some things but without God they would not have that knowledge to be able to treat people.

Now what are you talking about? Sister Lou was kind enough to actually give an example of the power of prayer, but now you act like you did in the post above. You were asked a few times already and all that you have accomplished is to say that you speak all truth or all lies and then spew some smug unsolicited advice. You're not easy to understand as written and your last post has regressed to the equivalent of NA-NA. I'm not sure whether to counter with "Rasberries" or empathy.

Sister Lou, I think it is truly wonderful that your child pulled through a very rough experience, but to say it was God is simply not true. What about all the people who lost their children that day? Was God too busy? Were they not strong enough believers? That's kinda unfair, isn't it?

Why is it we only credit God for the good things? What about the tragedies? Where was God on 9/11? He could have stopped any of that. What about the children in these third world countries? Innocent kids not just dying, but suffering as well. Why is God so willing to stop in a hospital room from time to time, but ignores so much more.

The answer is that God was not in that hospital room. Sometimes people get better, even when things look bad. And most times they don't. Because it's a sick, sad world.

I understand that some talk in generalities and find specifics unimportant. I understand contradiction when I read it and I also fully understand that some find it extremely difficult to admit to even trivial mistakes. I also understand the definition of the phrase derived from the dated medical device named tobacco smoke enema bellows.

Sweet Dreams.

Sister Lou,

I asked about the viral or bacterial strain of the meningitis before because one is much more severe than the other. I don't think that was an unfair question at all. I really do appreciate the time you have taken to explain. Instead of dragging this out longer than needed, I will explain my thoughts as concisely as I can.

Your story is touching, but the example I cited of the jet ski scenario is not. I suspect there are documented examples of things that are not easily explained. However, a miracle believed by some (I am not insinuating yours) can be easily explained by others (like the jet ski for example). Is it a fair statement to say that some people go to extremes and skepticism is warranted?

RAH,
IN ALL HONESTY, WHETHER YOU BELIEVE IT OR NOT, I DON'T REMEMBER WHICH IT WAS. HE WAS ON HIS DEATH BED AND WHAT KIND HE HAD JUST DID'NT MATTER TO ME. IT REALLY MADE NO DIFFERENCE, HE WAS DYING AND I KNEW THAT GOD COULD HANDLE IT NO MATTER WHAT KIND IT WAS!!
AS FOR AS THE WOMAN AND THE JET SKI...I AM NOT GOING TO SAY IN NO WAY THAT GOD DID NOT INTERVENE AND TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT GOD CAN HANDLE ANY PROBLEM BIG OR SMALL. TO YOU HER SITUTION MAY NOT SEEM SO GREAT THAT GOD WOULD INTERVENE, BUT IF IT HAD BEEN YOU OUT THERE IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT LAKE, YOU MIGHT SEE THINGS DIFFERENTLY.

Sister Lou,

It was a beautiful day here. I hope the weather was nice there as well and that you had a chance to get outside to enjoy it. We may not have many more of these days left before we are hunkering down for the winter. It's time to be the Ant and not the Grasshopper according to Aesop.

Anyway, I understand that you don't want to cast judgment on the jet ski story and that can only mean that I didn't explain properly.

Please accept this similar scenario. Lenny had to make an errand. Lenny sat in his truck and fastened the seat belt. Lenny then put the truck in gear and it wouldn't move. So Lenny didn't know what to do so he prayed. After 15 minutes of prayer, Lenny noticed that his keys were still in his pocket (Lenny never tried starting his truck), so he placed the key into the ignition and turned the key and his truck started right up. Lenny attributed his truck starting by divine intervention.

Miracle?

Sister Lou,

I am only trying to explain the jet-ski story so there is no misunderstanding. The Lenny story is only a simplified version of the jet ski story. I made up the Lenny story to simplify. Lenny expected his truck to move, but he made a mistake, he never started the truck in the first place. The jet ski story is the same. The woman didn't know that you do not choke a hot engine. She made a mistake. She just didn't know the standard procedures in starting the jet ski when the engine was hot. She explained her error herself.

My point, she didn't know what she was doing, but attributed the outcome as divine intervention. Lenny made a mistake, but attributed this to God starting his truck.

I am only asking if you see this as a miracle or in any way, help from above?

RAH,
ONCE AGAIN I AM NOT GOING TO SAY YEA OR NAY,BECAUSE, WHO AM I TO JUDGE SUCH THINGS? GOD IS CERTAINLY NOT AS SIMPLE MINDED AS I AM!! AFTER ALL HE IS THE GREAT ALMIGHTY GOD!!! AND EVEN THO WE MIGHT THINK THAT THESE CRIES FOR HELP WOULD BE TOO TRIVIAL FOR SOMEONE AS MIGHTY AS HIM TO EVEN TAKE NOTICE,I BELIEVE HE HEARS ALL CRIES NO MATTER HOW TRIVIAL WE THINK THEY ARE.
BY THE WAY, WE ARE HAVING A BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE, HOPE YOU ARE ENJOYING THE SAME THERE!! HAVE A GREAT DAY IN THE LORD TODAY AND EVERYDAY.

Good Evening Sister Lou,

A fable from Aesop titled The Astrologer for your reading pleasure. Your comments are always appreciated.

A man who lived a long time ago believed that he could read the future in the stars. He called himself an Astrologer, and spent his time at night gazing at the sky.

One evening he was walking along the open road outside the village. His eyes were fixed on the stars. He thought he saw there that the end of the world was at hand, when all at once, down he went into a hole full of mud and water.

There he stood up to his ears, in the muddy water, and madly clawing at the slippery sides of the hole in his effort to climb out.

His cries for help soon brought the villagers running. As they pulled him out of the mud, one of them said:

"You pretend to read the future in the stars, and yet you fail to see what is at your feet! This may teach you to pay more attention to what is right in front of you, and let the future take care of itself."

"What use is it," said another, "to read the stars, when you can't see what's right here on the earth?"

Evening Sister Lou,

I ran across this story and thought maybe you would be interested. It's very sad, but heartwarming as well. A young lad, Noah Biorkman from Michigan is dying of a serious illness. It doesn't look like a very good prognosis from the Doctors. However, as you and your protege stated, anything is possible with prayer. I suspect you could find the time to help the poor little fellow. The family wants him to have one more Christmas. The family's friends asked what they could do to help and the family just asked for them to send the child a Christmas card. They posted the request on internet sites and they are receiving literally thousands of cards and gifts. In fact, they asked to have the cards delivered to the father's address now because their house and garage are full. A small gesture to lift the spirits of the saddened and to exemplify the true spirit of humanity is not a bad thing. Thanks in advance. You know what to do. I will send a card.

Thank You Sister Lou,

I hope you and yours are well. We will all go through the drill one day. Keep them comfortable, dope them up if necessary, and rely on medical science.

Speaking of medical science, the founder of our country, George Washington died of something as trivial as strep throat. The Doctors of the day (as prestigious as they were), prescribed bleeding. They would cut the patient and drain so much blood and then they would wait for results. President Washington didn't respond well, so they bled him again. They bled him 4 times and George Washington died.

These Doctors were the best we had to offer at the time. We now know that these Doctors had no idea what they were doing. Medical science has advanced. The mortality rate of childhood cancer has improved 10% since the mid 90's. Is this due to medical research, or is this due to divine intervention where we are only allowed to learn such advances in determined amounts from the all knowing?

We live on a small spinning ball dominated by a pathetic species. A species that spends astronomical sums on devices to kill others and so little on methods to help others. We are still learning, we are in our infancy. This doesn't apply only to medical science.

I admire your positive disposition Sister Lou, may I inquire as to stem cell research. Are you for or against it?

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Libra

Remember that life isn't all fun and games: handle your responsibilities first, then plan how to have a good time. Your impulses, once you yield to them, will have a tendency to lead you further and further from where you need to be. Make sure you lock the door behind you before disappearing; when you're in this kind of mischievous mood, you probably won't want anyone else to know where you're going.
