All political: Former VP Al Gore is poised to become the world's first "carbon billionaire," profiteering from government policies he supports that would direct billions of dollars to the business ventures he has invested in.

Bravo Robin Miller! The abortion issue is just the tip of the iceberg, it is a bad bill...and one our SOCIALIST/MARXIST representative supports.
I am appalled how naive liberal El Pasoans are. They don't get it-rationed healthcare, period. Socialized medicine, period. No more freedoms and privacy with your doctor, period. As for the policeman, it is amazing how safe El Paso is considering we are a border town. Our boys in blue are worth every penny and they definitely deserve more pennies-- our police force is fantastic in El Paso. |

They say this city is safe but if you look at statistics on eppd.org you will see there is a lot of crime going on. Our officers get paid well enough for the half-ass job they do. Plus half of them are black mailing s.o.b.'s anyway. And anything we can do to stop these waste of taxpayer money checkpoints, the better off we are.

Michael...bravo, your points are well-taken. And you backed up your claim with data, something I was unable to do :(
*JUST IN- the Republican amendment that ALL members of Congress must be part of the healthcare bill was shot down by the Democrats. This speaks volumes about them shoving a healthcare MANDATE down our throats that they themselves won't even do. Congress is Evil. VOTE OUT REYES! |

I wrote to Kay Bailey Hutchinson about the health care proposal. She went on to explain very nicely how the public does not understand the healthcare bill. They are thinking of changing the name of the bill so you nitwits claiming Marxism (Most of whom use this word have not even read any of the works of Marx and Engels. It's just become a catch phrase for the dreggy drones of FAUX news followers.) can have a better understanding of it. It's quite pathetic that the people in this country are so uneducated, stubborn, and afraid of change that simple wording can influence the thoughts of the tards of this country.
I find it amusing that anything socialistic is demonized in our ME ME ME ME culture. Think about the word Socialism derived from social which is derived from society. A society that works together to help each other stands strong. One that is filled with a bunch of "Only me and my own count" will only fail. Say, was that not the big lesson of Sodom and Gomorrah. A bunch of self serving people will only bring about the downfall of the society in which they live. |

Hilarious! Classic! Your name is meee1. Only you, eh? You are a sick fool. Sick with ignorance and foolish for not edducating yourself. BTW, one cannot do socialism/Marxism because they are not the same philosophy. You would know that had you an education.

Dear Too Simplistic,
I hold a BA in Philosophy and am almost finished with my Masters in Philosophy. I have read Engels AND Marx. Despite my education, I must be one of those "dreggy drones" you speak of. You assume that the opposite of those hailing this health care bill are a bunch of self-serving "me, me, me" types of people and YOU COULD NOT BE MORE WRONG. This health care bill WILL NOT BE GOOD FOR ANYONE. PERIOD. I agree that there are problems with our health care system that need to be fixed. However, this is NOT the way to do it. It would be one thing if the government could promise that the homeless guy on the street would receive excellent care JUST LIKE the business man who makes enough money to buy excellent health care, but THEY ARE NOT PROMISING THAT. Instead, they promise (without saying it bluntly so you have to read between the lines) that those business men who are wealthy enough to afford excellent health care will, after this bill passes, receive no better health care than the homeless man on the street. How does this help the homeless man? Because it makes it "FAIR"? Because it isn't "FAIR" that the wealthy business man can afford good health care while the homeless man can not? FAIR DOESN'T CURE CANCER. FAIR DOESN'T MEAN BETTER HEALTH CARE!! If there was a way to RAISE the quality of care of the homeless person to the level of the wealthy business person, then I'd be all for that kind of change. THAT IS THE KIND OF CHANGE WE NEED!! However, this bill will only serve to LOWER the quality of care of the wealthy business person to the level of the homeless man. I ask you, how does that help anyone? Why in the world would you support a bill like that? Too Simplistic, is right. |

Definition of Marxism taken from referenccenter.com
p.s. Hey too simplistic...read the formal definition below. I am a doctorate student, I DO educate myself. I read the 2,000 page bill online and saw it will plunge our country into disaster and destroy Capitalism in this country.(Higher taxes for everyone, no tort reform, abortion paid by the gov, I could go on and on) If you are going to disagree, please show your proof or YOU end up looking like the 'sick ignorant fool'. Marxism, economic and political philosophy named for Karl Marx. It is also known as scientific (as opposed to utopian) socialism. Marxism has had a profound impact on contemporary culture; modern communism is based on it, and most modern socialist theories derive from it (see socialism). (So, you are WRONG- do your homework you hateful liberal) |

They are already making enough money. When your job primarily involves driving around wasting precious resources. It can hardly be considered value-added. Keep them where they are.
Don't try to pour money into something without first looking at the results being produced. Simply giving out tickets can hardly be considered doing a good job. How have they impacted real crime? Are drugs still rampant in the city? Murder? Violent crime? Don't simply look at the fact that they've given every resident a speeding ticket in the last year. Don't focus so much on the drunk drivers they've arrested. How are they doing w/r to stopping the more serious crimes? Look at how these public servants are helping the community, if they are helping? How many stranded motorist have they come to the aide of? Attempted murders, etc. You can't just say police don't make enough, let's pay them a few more pennies. Teachers don't get paid enough, let's throw a few pennies their way. City Council members don't make enough, let's throw a few pennies their way. People's taxes pay for all these fine little increases and they add up. If anything, assuming they are doing a good or great job, we should be looking at trimming the FAT. We should be able to do more with less. |

From "The Evil Empire"
By Paul Craig Roberts 11-6-9 The US government is now so totally under the thumbs of organized interest groups that "our" government can no longer respond to the concerns of the American people who elect the president and the members of the House and Senate. Voters will vent their frustrations over their impotence on the president, which implies a future of one-term presidents. Soon our presidents will be as ineffective as Roman emperors in the final days of that empire. Obama is already set on the course to a one-term presidency. He promised change, but has delivered none. His health care bill is held hostage by the private insurance companies seeking greater profits. The most likely outcome will be cuts in Medicare and Medicaid in order to help fund wars that enrich the military/security complex and the many companies created by privatizing services that the military once provided for itself at far lower costs. It would be interesting to know the percentage of the $700+ billion "defense" spending that goes to private companies. In American "capitalism," an amazing amount of taxpayers' earnings go to private firms via the government. Yet, Republicans scream about "socializing" health care. Republicans and Democrats saw opportunities to create new sources of campaign contributions by privatizing as many military functions as possible. There are now a large number of private companies that have never made a dollar in the market, feeding instead at the public trough that drains taxpayers of dollars while loading Americans with debt service obligations. Obama inherited an excellent opportunity to bring US soldiers home from the Bush regime's illegal wars of aggression. In its final days, the Bush regime realized that it could "win" in Iraq by putting the Sunni insurgents on the US military payroll. Once Bush had 80,000 insurgents collecting US military pay, violence, although still high, dropped in half. All Obama had to do was to declare victory and bring our boys home, thanking Bush for winning the war. It would have shut up the Republicans. But this sensible course would have impaired the profits and share prices of those firms that comprise the military/security complex. So instead of doing what he said he would do and what the voters elected him to do, Obama restarted the war in Afghanistan and launched a new one in Pakistan. Soon Obama was echoing Bush and Cheney's threats to attack Iran. In place of health care for Americans, there will be more profits for private insurance companies. In place of peace there will be more war. Voters are already recognizing the writing on the wall and are falling away from Obama and the Democrats. Independents who gave Obama his comfortable victory have now swung against him, recently electing Republican governors in New Jersey and Virginia to succeed Democrats. This is a protest vote, not a confidence vote in Republicans. Guess who the consultant was who arranged with then Texas governor George W. Bush the agreements that would give to Enron the rights to Uzbekistan's and Turkmenistan's natural gas deposits and to Unocal to develop the trans-Afghanistan pipeline. It was Karzai, the US-imposed "president" of Afghanistan, who has no support in the country except for American bayonets. |

Excellent post Fromtheblogsphere.
In addition to the office of the POTUS going 1 term. All public offices should be limited to 1 term. More than 1 term in office tends to give public officials too much power. No one should make a career out of public office service. Let's change the laws. Let's stop this non-sense that is going on in Washington and in our local governments. |

Cool. You are almost at the education level as I. Please expound on how the the wealthy would be forced to drop their excellent health insurance plans that they already have in place. The health care plan does not have that as a provision. Neither I nor anyone else who has insurance will be forced to drop our current policicies. So, how does that put us all at the level of healthcare a homless man that most people just step over to get their big macs?

LOL I read works, not take definitions from the net. What are you getting your doctorate in lol? Marx and Engels talked about equality based on labor. The simple economic premise from Adam Smith says that more time and labor put into finishing a job equals more compensation. Well, that has gone out the window in this country. Marx and Engels proposed a more EGALITARIAN (not utopian) idea of equal work and labor for all; therefore, everyone would have equal compensation. It's a nice idea, but does not work as it does not factor human nature (mostly the need to have more) into the philosophy. Where the heck does that fit into this health care proposal? I don't know. You tell me.
Socialism, on the other hand, is about using taxes for the good of all such as our own socialistic agencies: Police, Firemen, School, Libraries, FBI, Military, DEA, etc. These things have been deemed necessary for all to have equal access to. However, not health. Nope. Life, death, and disease have become a business controlled by businessmen. That's alright though, right? That's why millions go without-they cannot afford it. Imagine police being privately funded? Only those with money would be able to get their help. That's insane! Imagine this scenario: "Help my house is on fire!" "Can you pay us to put the fire out?" "No, I don't have fire insurance" "Sorry ma'am. We cannot help you unless you can pay out of pocket." Sounds nutty, does it not? I believe health is a human right and should not be in the hands of companies who make obscene profits off of allowing it or not allowing it. I'm glad that you have read the healthcare proposal. Which one? There are now two floating around that have not been approved. The House just approved one and the Senate Finance Committee has approved their own version. Also make sure you are reading updated versions as the so called "Blue Dog" democrats have gutted the heck out of the bill because some funding for their campaigns has come from insurance companies. It is very possible that this is the same case for Republicans, but we cannot tell because they are playing pouty sore loser kid games.

Kill your T.V., sweetie. It only serves to confuse those who are swayed by commentators rather than original thought processes.

socorro p.d. should not get more money if anything they should get a decrease. The decrease then can go to training they need. If you want to be a doctor you need to go to medical school. right?
|
||||

The problem with the Socorro PD is unlike the EPPD and SO, they are led by leader who lacks ethics, is a precription drug abuser and was forced to retire from the EPPD, fired from the Attorney General's office and the Socorro PD.
The fact that he stabbed in the back the only person who was willing to give him a second chance speaks volumes of Chief Jaime Avalos' moral and ethical makeup. |

So, you have to wonder why you would keep a person like that in office. Could you find no better candidate?
|

Too Simplistic:
Did you just call me "sweetie?" Where do you get off? That sort of patronizing language is of no use in a debate like this. You must be taking lessons from the likes of Reyes and Pelosi: belittle the person because you can't win the argument. I'm not sure I should even give you the time of day, but against my better judgment I will say this: I hope that if, GOD FORBID, this health care bill passes Senate, you don't get cancer at 65 years of age because those strangers in suits may decide that it would cost the system too much to save your life. I hope you don't have a daughter or granddaughter or sister or aunt who gets pregnant with conjoined twins. The same suits may force her to terminate the pregnancy rather than carry the babies to full term only for them to die naturally because it is cheaper to end their lives right away. I hope you don't break a hip and the suits again give you a pill for the rest of your life instead of hip replacement surgery because the surgery is expensive, but managing the pain is relatively cheap. I hope you don't get a brain tumor which needs to be operated on right away, but which the suits will again busy themselves pushing paper until you lose the ability to speak, read, write, and finally die all while waiting patiently in line for a simple surgery that would have saved your life and quality of it. I don't care what those drones on TV say, left or right, moderate, conservative, liberal, whatever. I don't care any of what they say. I do, however, care about what people in countries which have tried out this sort of health care program have to say about their experiences with it. It isn't pretty. Have you ever seen the movie To Live? Do you want PA's to be doing the jobs of doctors without a doctor's level of education because of a national shortage of doctors? Would you want a PA to deliver your baby? Just because this is the U.S. doesn't mean it couldn't happen here. Also, you write: "You are almost at the education level as I." If you had written it CORRECTLY, the sentence would read, "You are almost at SAME education level as ME." Although, your word choice still suffers. |

Green is very questionable. Look to see who owns or has interests in green companies. Remember that the earth goes through cycles. 1 serious volcanic eruption gives off more pollution than all cars have in the past 100 yrs ...
Green is ok, but you need to question why? |
