Mena High School Student Allegedly Sexually Assaulted on Bus

First let me say to the young man that this incident happened to my heart goes out to you. What you have suffered was totally wrong. Not only the incident but the attempt to cover up such wrong behavior. The bus incident was so very wrong and should never have taken place. I was a bus driver for several years and when kids were acting up or out of there seats we pulled the bus over. To settle the bus down. Why wasn't someone watching these children? If that weren't bad enough we are teaching the kids to cover up such awful behavior. Instead of helping everyone deal with what took place we are asking our children to cover it up because we don't want Mena to look bad. Hey FOLKS it already looks bad.
It is awful that this incident took place but it is even worse that as my children and other children in this community now know that if something were to happen to them they have no where to turn.

I hope there is not a cover up related to this incident. If this indeed happened, it is detestable, and I hope those who participated will be severely punished. It seems this town is making a habit of covering up and protecting the guilty. The hospital is trying to cover up the incident that took place earlier last month where the nurse killed a man, and almost killed a second patient. That girl’s mother should sue the heck out of them. I can’t believe they are permitting that woman to continue working there. I would urge everyone to find another place to go for medical help.

hi... i am from mena i go to a school less than 10 minutes away from this school called Acorn High School all i can say now is that this is getting wild and i dont think Mr. ponder or any other of the Administration should cover it up... this is reminding me of the drug raid on the Mena Airport a few years back... they tried to cover that up too and it didnt work... why would they be able to cover this up? Also my cousin was personal friends with the victim and let me say this it really hurt him bad.

We might as well get used to the city covering up everything that is important to the comunnity up. They have done it for years. Yes, i live here in Mena and recently graduated from Mena High. I know the children that were envoled in this act of "i don't know what to call it honestly," only the poeple that live here everyday and have to go through what this town has been doing for years are the only ones who really know what we go through with our law enforcement. Its bunch of crap. What is happening here is horrible and needs to stop and I'm not just talking about this inncident. All the Law Enforcement in this town is good for is causing more trouble, as is the High School. I am speaking from first hand experience. Thank you very much for your time.

yea... i am a student at Acorn High... i think some more people need to get in on it... this summer i am going to start a petition for the local law to investigate it more... itll be at every store and go around the mail.

yes i know the soccer thing was really wrong but guess what people its life in 2006. stuff like this happens all the time. Im really good friends with the kid that this all happened to and i really wish that they would do something about this besides suspending them for 3 days, but guess what, nothing has happened yet and i dunno if there will be anything done. Im also friends with the guys that did this to them, it was simply horseplay went bad, they really shouldn't have done any of it, but the boys did it. what can we do about it? I really wish that you would stop talking about it, its none of your business, if it happened in ur town i think that yall would be trying to not spread it around also! Just leave it alone!!!!

listen here you little brat.... i am in mena so shut your fat mouth before i come over there to the highschool and show you how much it matters i agree with the person above our town does have a way of covering things up and i personally am sick of it i am fighting back!

I would just like to say that I was (and still am) good friends with both of the main people involved. They are both in my grade and great, fun guys. I heard both sides of each ones stories, and things just got way out of hand. Living in Mena and going to High School there I have heard all about the incident and thats all I want to hear. I feel EXTREMELY bad for what happened and wish it never did, but I'd like to say that it IS being handled despite what you may think or say and hopefully it won't happen again.

I know you are just a kid and think this kind of crap is new...believe me, it's not. This has been going on for years and people cover it up with "boys will be boys".

How are these boys supposed to grow up to be responsible MEN if they aren't held responsible for their mis-deeds?? What they did was dead wrong and punishment is due.

I have never understood how expelling or suspending a student is punishment...they don't have to go to school, can sleep till noon, play their video games and talk on the phone all day. That is supposed to hurt?? I don't think so.

Mena is a beautiful town but this is making it ugly. Unfortunately this type of behavior happens almost everywhere but in a small town like this it SHOULD be easier to take care of if the adults that are supposed to be protecting the children would step up to the plate and do so.

No, I'm NOT condoning what happened but unless you live IN Mena and are good friends with the guys, then I agree with the student from Mena High. We aren't just a bunch of stupid kids thank you very much! We know the people and exactly whats going on! I go to school with the boys and have heard the story. Unless you live here then it IS none of your buisness because you don't know exactly what happened.

Nothing more has been done to the boys at this time. It is still under investigation.(How much time do they need)? The school board did accept the coach's resignation but the bus driver continues to drive the summer school bus even today.

Why have the ones who did this not come forward and at least offered some apology? Could it be they are not sorry for what they did?
