The Spanish population has DESTROYED that area. The put feces in the bathhouse with tons of graffiti. They die in the water because they choose to go in and don't know how to swim (I am sure the state got sued for that). And every time you go there its like grand central station. And if your not hispanic they all start talking in there native tongue so you don't understand them and they give you dirty looks. Thank GOD there is no more swimming allowed. They have no respect for the inner cities why would they care about "someone else's area". Good ridden to bad rubbish.

I Have to they did ruin the beach Every time I went there they would be blaring there music from 6-7 cars throwing their trash around pushing little kids in the water using the water as a toilet. what cracks me up they think they are hot and sexy but they have to make themselves feel that way because they are a group of nasty dirty people who have no respect. IT SUCKS THAT I GOOD BEACH HAD TO BE CLOSED BECAUSE OF NASTY ASS IGNORANT PEOPLE WHO CAN'T RESPECT ANYTHING. IF THEY WANT TO RUIN SOMETHING GO BACK TOY YOUR OWN DAMM COUNTRY AND LEARN HOW TO USE A TOILET!!!!!!!!!!

Well let me say there two other comments on here are completly rude and ignorant. These idiots are racist, and are just looking to blame something on someone. i understand arcadia is great and ive been going there sense i was little but you cannot blame the closure of it on a race. you guys are fucking dumb. and by the way, im white just incase you decided to blame this comment on the 'hispanics'.

I was trying to find out why beach pond was closed this season and all I came upon were these hateful comments. I think whereever there are young people it seems there is a lot of noise. I went to the beach last summer with my handicap brother who is very friendly and never once did I feel like we were being spoken about. My young son was playing and mingling just fine with all the children there. I thought it was a nice place to go on a hot summer day.
Anyways, I found an article, and am attaching a link so anyone who wants to read the real reson for the beach closure. http://www.norwichbulletin.com/homepage/x4917...
Yes,it did mention vandalism, but mostly the closure was due to money issues. And I am quite certain vandalism is a crime committed my immature young adults of every race.

I spent all last winter waiting for the day I would be able to put in my music. (I had bought new CD`s just for the B.P. ride) and drive down Rt.165 to the pond. (I`m from Conn.) on those hot steamy mornings(you know, when the thermometer says 85 degrees and it is only 9:00 A.M.)and spend the day sitting at Beach pond beach. Then my boss told me it was closed this year. Well, This along with four dollar gas, I`ve been depressed ever since. I am really crippled up with R.A. and it was nice to back the truck in and take out a chair. I would spend the whole day sitting in the sun, usually 3 times a week at the pond.(my second home all summer) It did get crazy sometimes after the DEP folks left, But it did leave me with some memories. A Summer storm making it`s way across the lake was a sight to behold. I hope the future will find this place returned to the Nervana I dream about on those cold February nights.

I have to say that I grew up in the area and spent many days at Beach Pond as a child and into my late twenties. I have always noticed that every year more and more people from the city would show up looking for attention being loud and destroying a beutiful beach area. I don't care what race you are. People from certain backgrounds are different than others, its the way they are raised. They ruined their own country and had to come here to do it again.Stay in the city and live like rats, but don't subject myself or others to your savage behavior. Oh yeah Learn how to use a toilet and a garbage can. By the way diapers DO NOT belong on a beach. Thanks for destroying one of the last great places to see clean water.

There are two people who are racist and ignorant. If something strange or out of the world occurs, it's always the black or spanish people. I just think you guys who have that mentality are sick and need to get over yourself. Yes, I'm hispanic, and i don't believe in vandilism. And i also know how to use a toilet. I appreciate all the white people who support hispanics, god bless you guys. And by the way, before telling anyone to go to 'their COUNTRY'; its not your country either ! unless you're indians, so go take another history class or something because your obviously lost in this world !

I was kayaking around Beach Pond a week or two ago. I noticed the signs saying 'Swim Area Closed'... I took this as a swim at own risk....

At the end of my kayaking I went into the water for a quick dip.

Well there was a DEM official in the parking lot who proceeded to get out of his vehicle and shout a little.

He told me there is no swimming what-so-ever and if I am caught again he will fine me $100....

I asked him why there is no swimming- he told me its because of the states budget.(yet they can pay him to sit there all day....)

I'm sorry, but because the state does not have enough money I can't go swimming- even at my own risk!?!?!?.... But I could tie myself to a motor boat and get flung around on a water tube or a pair of skis!!!

I could see if it was because of ecological reasons- but don't tell me I can't go swimming at my own risk in a pond because of the state budget... Because I'm going to swim in it anyways.

RI=most ignorant state.

I went to the swimming area when I first moved to V'town a few years ago and can tell you the PR's from Providence are still coming to the beach and still being as Obnoxious as Ever! One day I was there in the early evening and a family of about 10 of Them were there with a small dog and the kids kept Throwing the poor dog into the water and then roughly Pulling it back to shore. You could see the poor dog was terrified. I finally got MAD and told the kids off but they just laughed. The parents were Not even paying Any attention to what the kids were doing. My friend got scared and told me not to say anything to them because you never know What they will do. He said they probably have knives. I don't go there anymore but THEY still do. The DEM "Wanna Be Cops" got on me once when I was there and wanted to arrest me because I was there with my dog in the water yet the PR's Still go there and DRINK,Blare the music and this week they Actually had a Tent there camping! I wonder Where they Poo NOW? And why does the DEM not get on THOSE pigs instead of decent White people just trying to cool off??? You wonder WHY people hate the PR's? Well, their Actions at public places explains WHY. Oh, by the Way, My father was a PR but if I Ever acted That way he would have hit me up side my Head! I am Ashamed to BE PR because of people like Them. I am a White PR not one of the New Breed of Mixed. Soon there won't be any of US White ones Left. A Disgrace!

I have passed the area many times. The area looks nice, but what is under the water I don't know. It is sad to know that people sat on their thumbs and watch a beautiful lake go down the tube. Although I have seen it happen to other area's in the country. If the place is like I hear it is to be honest I don't think I would want to swim in it, but like the other person said: swim at your own risk. Most lake area's I have noticed have become a MONEY MAKING DEAL. You better not have any beer, whiskey or wine on the property. But DRUGS they over look it. They guy with alcohol will pay his fine, the guy with drugs we do his time.

I love listening to people like madelyn who want to tell native born Americans that this isn't "their country." Why don't you read the Constitution and then come back and talk to me about citizenship. The problem is the lawlessness of the illegal aliens who broke the law to get into America, then they evade paying all taxes except sales tax while siphoning money out of our welfare system by being dishonest about their citizenship status and lying on govt forms (it is a safety net for citizens, not foreigners who commit crimes). These people take advantage of public resources they aren't entitled to in the first place, and law enforcement largely leaves them alone because of political correctness while anyone who stands up to object to anything they do is branded a racist. And people like tom are running scared, god forbid they call him a racist, while our public parks are destroyed by people who have nothing invested in the community. And what was the reason Beach Pond State Park was closed to swimming? The state budget?! Hmmm... I wonder why the state is in such terrible financial shape. How much taxpayer money (thats money paid by citizens who obey laws) was irresponsibly wasted on fraud waste and abuse by noncitizens last year? Probably enough to renovate, staff, and revitalize every park in Rhode Island. But oh that's right, not politically correct, nothing to see here folks.

I guess you can't go home again.
I spent much of the summers of my 1970s childhood at this beach. I'm sure there were incidents, but I only remember families having nice, safe fun. I guess those days are gone forever.

Don't believe everything you see today and your memory could be playing tricks on you, too. You might remember things in a distorted or false way, through no fault of your own. You may also be reading too much into the situations that are going on around you, making it hard for you to know what's really happening. Try not to make any big decisions today because you simply aren't thinking straight.
