I hope the President can get back some of the manufacturing jobs the American companys sent to China.These "Benedict Arnold" companys in China are the ones who ruined the American economy and until Congress legislates laws against selling their slave products in the US,we will remain in a recession.

2 Obama has never held a real job in the private sector himself so don't expect him to suddenly begin creating jobs now. As for ranting against companies that move their production to China they really have no choice under the free trade rules that force American workers to compete against foreign "slave" labor. American companies really have no choice except to go offshore as long as there are no tariffs to protect them from cheap imports. |

Please, I beg of you, educate yourself before voting in 2010 and 2012. I doubt there will be much of this nation left to salvage by 2010 elections, and I know for a certainty that there will be NOTHING left of the nation as our grandparents knew it by 2012 if we don’t raise holy hell by booting out ALL incumbents in 2010 elections. Quite frankly, I don’t believe that there is anything, short of a bloody revolution, to prevent our downfall. Nothing would please me more than to find that I am wrong. 1 We can say that to only lower your head is not so good for a Japanese bow. You will give the impression that your bow falls short. There are also the cases of somebody bowing their head repeatedly. In doing this, one might think you are paying the deepest respect and consideration, are being polite, etc., but the sentiment which should be expressed in the Japanese bow fails to be expressed doing this. When bowing while standing, their is the “highest respectful bow”(saikeirei), which is executed from a position of standing straight upward, and then bending 45-degrees or more.“Respectful bow” is at 30-to-40 degrees, and everyday “eshaku” around 15-degrees. “Saikeirei” is not seen on a regular basis, but is used in order to offer an apology, or when one is extremely grateful for something received, as well as performed before the altar of Shinto shrines and Bhuddist temples. In case of a handshake, straighten the back, and by all means one must look directly into the face (eyes) of the recipient of one’s handshake. It is not to be too strong and not too light. Too strong will reflect an insult and too weak will not reflect good will. In America, such a weak handshake is called a “dead fish handshake”, with the feeling being that the person wielding a dead fish. And, shaking a hand while performing a bow will be seen as subservient (”servile”,“supple”,“mean”), and is not to be done. More… Obama’s bow made him look like an idiot. |

I had to do a search to find an excellent article/essay that was published in the Philadelphia Inquirer in the early 1990s - "Who Stole The Dream." This should be a must read for people wondering how we got to where we are today and where our jobs went. This has been an issue close to my heart for many years. When the NAFTA debate was going on in the house, my letter was read on the house floor. Our trade agreements are neither fair nor free. Many of us grew up with the idea, instilled in us by our parents, that if we worked hard, we too could have the "American Dream." I did my part and worked hard, got my B.A., put myself and my children through a lot of hard times and sacrifices for four years(I went to college after my divorce and was a single parent working full time and going to college full time). I did what I was supposed to do, played by the rules, but I didn't count on the betrayal of "my dream" by my elected officials. Five layoffs later and a job making half of what I earned 1 year after college (1985) is certainly a way to get you politically motivated if nothing else! I foresaw what we are living through today. First it was the factories that closed and blue collar workers got the first hit, then the collars got lighter and my tech job ended up in India. Along with the factories went the tax revenue that they generated to their states and cities. Workers had to either get lower paying jobs (less tax revenue than good paying jobs), or depend on social services (a drain on revenue). How are our cities and states doing now? Chief Seneca once said "All things are connected..." This is certainly true of the fiscal collapse we see today and the origins that caused it. I'm not entirely blaming the companies though. When NAFTA was being debated, Gerald Solomon (Republican, NY) said that it would kill Fruit of the Loom just as it had Anchor Hocking earlier. Before NAFTA, the Rose Growers in the South pleaded with congress for protection against the dumping of cheap flowers in this country. They were ignored and now our flowers overwhelmingly are shipped in. Read the Inquirer article, it goes into other companies and industries that tried to stay here... they pleaded and were ignored likewise. And now, as Nadar warned, our country is ruled by a global "tribunal" and can fine us if we try to protect what little industry we have left. Thank you NAFTA, GATT, and all the others that followed... The American worker has been sold out! So many pray at the altar of "Global Trade" or "Free Trade." Trading is fine as long as we protect our people and industries just as our trading partners are doing. 1 The exporting of our industrial base is nothing short of criminal. There was a story on CNN this morning about a new KIA factory that opened this year in Georgia. Kia got 43,000 applications for 3,900 jobs! The mayor reports that the ripple affect of the factory will create many more small businesses and jobs. Think of what our country would look like today if we still had all the factories that were relocated to China. The recession would be over here as it is in China and the American middle class would be growing instead of shrinking. But idiot politicians, educators, journalists and commentators on both sides of the political sprectrum who all claim to be so smart threw our economy away like it was nothing. |
