KITV news director seat is open after departure - Hawaii Business

My goodness, what took so long? Under the current management, the ratings for KITV's news have been falling more consistently than lava on the Big Island. It's a classic example of failure when a detached New York media conglomerate tries to impose its cookie-cutter mentality on a unique market like Hawai'i. They never learn and just don't care.
And you gotta love how the general manager makes his comments as cliche as his newscasts - "left to pursue other opportunities." Hilarious! Are you sure Tod didn't want to "spend more time with his family"?

Harry is spot-on. But all of the tv stations are amateurish out here. Fatuous really.

Not surprised at all Tod left since KITV's ratings has gotten worser in the past few months. I knew there would be a management change after due to that.

Free at last, free at last, thank God Almighty, this hardworking news department is free at last.

All of the stations are comedy central. They do everything but tell the real news here.

I'm not surprised. I used to watch KITV in the morning because I liked Dan, Mahea and Ben. When Ben left and they hired on the cute young girls with no substance, I stopped. I watch KGMB Sunrise which many others also watch as they now have the highest ratings for am and 10pm news.

KITV actually has a news program?

Who was that great News Director that they let go at Channel 5/8? I think his first name was Dan. I heard he moved to the Mainland. They should bring him back for KITV! He knows about real news, not Whitehouse propaganda and Corporate veil nonsense... I'd love to see a T.V. station in Hawaii tell the whole truth and no more politicing..!

It's preeety much about where they are at anyhoo.

KITV needs a big makeover. The news department has hit the bottom for the past few months. I stopped watching any of the News program months ago.

It was Dan Dennison.
I think KITV would be in 4th place if more people had HD TV's and KHNL was in full HD and not studio only HD.
