spend less, use less electricy, less water, cancel cable, skip the football game --- don't eat out, get rid of the truck, carpool --- skip birthday parties, weddings, graduations --- buy used clothes and home stuff

these aren't options for most --- this is what most are having to do to pay for the government --- as the political will is not there to change government

Wow! Lingle really is going insane... Pretty soon, she's proabbly going to announce her resignation and step aside so some intelligent people can hammer this out.

The more she stonewalls, and puffs up like the satnadard, spoiled Republican, the worse it's going to be for her party come election time.

It's almost as if she is afraid of reliving the Kauai Superferry Community Meeting that slapped her around so badly in the nationswide media, you know, the one where she threatened to take protesters children away by child protective services if they were brought to any protest.

With the recent revelations of all the mistresses, affairs, lies, religious cults involving other Republican lawmakers, perhaps it would be a good idea to make sure Lingles got all her coconuts in order before the negotiations start.

Typical Lingle above the law tantrums accuse everyone else and do nothing positive herself.

The government employee unions obviously don't want furloughs or layoffs. Their solution is to keep their jobs and benefits by jacking up taxes on the rest of us. Lingle won't do this as a matter of principle. Mufi may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but he has learned he can raise taxes to benefit a powerful minority and nobody will care. Look at how much money he's going to take out of the pockets of Oahu residents to build a rail line that won't go anywhere important (like UH, Waikiki, downtown), won't alleviate traffic and is being built primarily to provide jobs to the construction industry. If he can get away with that then of course he can also raise taxes to keep the powerful public employee unions fat and happy. Just like the saying: why does a dog lick himself? Because he can.

They Mayors aren't meddling. They are doing exactly what they need to do to ensure that the fat pigs at the public trough continue to get all the high wages and benefits that they have grown addicted to over the past 50 years.

And they are going to get it. Why? Because Hawaii is a monopoly town. One party. They union party. The Plantation Asian Immigrant Democrat party.

And they know how to do 2 things really really well. They know how to win elections and how to pay back supporters.

Governor George Ariyoshi's 43 staff members who worked for him over his career as governor weren't 100% Japanese for nuthin.

Everyone needs to stop complaining as start looking for places to cut their own budgets so that they can all pay more in taxes to support the Union Class of Hawaii.

You are leaving money on the table because of theft and fraud. The non-profits, IRC 501(c)(8) are ripping off the state.

Nothing to negotiate until you prove that all of the taxes are being collected. They are not.

Talk about interference-the mayor's have no business whatsoever-other than Mufi's political ambition-he needs and will do ANYTHING for that union vote-anything, even bury a sitting governor.
