Aloha: Now that the public has voted in favor of the new railroad, let's serve a route where someone else can help pay for it. It should run from the airport to Waikiki, so that millions of annual visitors can/will use it, and support it for us. Otherwise, it appears that it will be a never-ending losing proposition, since so few residents said they will give up their car to use the train to nowhere. VISITORS WILL NOT RIDE THE TRAIN FROM THE AIRPORT TO ALA MOANA CENTER WITH BAGGAGE AND CHILDREN IN TOW, ONLY TO TAKE A BUS OR CAB TO THEIR WAIKIKI HOTELS. NOR WILL THEY TAKE A CAB TO ALA MOANA CENTER FOR A RETURN TRAIN RIDE FROM NORDSTROM'S ROOFTOP TO HONOLULU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THINK ABOUT IT. IF WE DON'T THINK AHEAD, OUR GREAT GRANDCHILDREN WILL BE FOREVER SWIMMING IN A POOL OF RED INK. Me ka pono, Keith Haugen Nu`uanu

Too much traffic headed in that direction. Not only would UH be served, but all the private schools in the vicinity. And build from town outwards. That way people can start using the completed segments immediately instead of waiting 10 years.

Dean Nagasako has a very valid point in his letter "Do more for local businesses, workers". With the economy in the toilet, you can bet that there will be more and more businesses from the mainland that will be bidding to take business away from smaller local companies. In fact it's already happening quite a bit. State officials and other larger corps here in Hawaii need to do all they can to keep more dollars in our state instead of sending them elsewhere. I'm not suggesting putting up a solid barrier to block out others, just think before you award jobs, and give the Hawaii based biz some deference!

True, America is on a rapid spiral of decline. Bush has hugely weakened the country in all respects.

Can't make out what Haugen is trying to say. First it should run from airport to Waikiki to accomodate tourists. Then counters, " visitors will not ride train from airport to Ala Moana Center. From a central Waikiki station how do they get to their respective hotels with children and luggage in tow? Walk down the congested Kalakaua Ave., etc.? Can you vision the millions of tourists getting from a Waikiki station to their hotels in the aforementioned manner? Furthermore thousands of incoming passengers, national, international and interisland are collecting their luggage at carousels are exected to go to the airport train station wherever it may be located. Will train wait for these passengers to load up while trying to maintain a computerized schedule.

The train continues to be a dumb idea! No matter where it goes!

Same sex marriage is illegal, immoral, and absurd, Otto Cleveland wants courts to sactify this travisty of a union. If gays want to live with their squeezes, that is their business, but please do not try to sanctify it by calling it a marriage.
