Actually the title should read "The Price of Cowardice"

Watata should be given a medal for bravery in standing up to Bush's lies before many relaized what a shibai Bush was. Watada is a hero for warning us about Bush's war on America. I admire him.

The war in Iraq has got nothing to do with the cowardice actions of "Watata". You don't get to pick the wars you want to fight when you join the military.

What he is really saying is that he will fight in any war where there is NO chance he will get hurt.

The only medal he should get is the metal around his wrist as he is being led off to Leavenworth. The metal that should be engraved with "Medal of Cowardice".

As a Gulf War Veteran, I say Watata is what liberals stand for- spineless crap!

Watada is a hero to us all. He saw through the lies of Bush before they were fully exposed. he did us all a great favor. He has lots of integrity. He is also handsome and dignified.

too bad he joined the army not realizing that he may just have to take part in an unpopular war. but sometimes when we are still in our teens we do things we later regret.

Then he shouldn't have joined the military. But he did! Ever wonder why not much is written about this coward.

Being an officer, he had to have graduated from college. SO HE WAS NOT A TEEN WHEN HE SIGNED UP. I joined when I was still in high school, and had no regrets.

ArcFlash,
My father was not as lucky as you. He did 3 tours, WWII/Vietnam/Korea, which left him psychologically scarred for life. Do you know what that does to families-particularly young children to know that there is something not right about their Dad? The end to his suffering was the day he died. Is it fair that we still have many thousands of "unknown" remains from the Vietnam and Korean war, and veterans from Vietnam and Korean war living on the streets? Then to go on to start another occupation?

Would I want my son or daughter to continue the tradition of their grandfather and great grandfather and join the armed forces? YES, but only if we had an administration and politicians that cared about the troops-past, present and future and not just looking to line their own pockets with oil money.

PT is so right. And I never had a daddy..I mean..he left us early on. Making it on a single mom's sailor put us in a North dakota trailor.

PT is so right..war is a necessary evil at best and only rarely enetered into. Bush cjhose to fight a needless war.

Alice,
Most kids know everything until they reach 20, then they realize they know nothing. Consider it a work in progress!!!

again..if Watada had paid attention in history class in regards to US militarization and US expansionism he would have realized what he was getting into...
when you join the military you are at the beckoning call of the military and the president and congress.
