Inouye's earmarks go to his donors - Hawaii News

This isn't news. Every politician does this. What do you think rapid transit is -- a big pork barrel to support Mufi's run for governor.

Well in the Navatek case they have a good
track record and know this field. However being in Hawaii and small is a disadvantage when competing against large
multi-nationals who usually hog this area. If it takes Dan to help balance matters then so be it... and if they want to make sure he stays to fight their cause then why not send money. SO how
else is an innovative local company to
survive?

Pork barelling is just plain wrong, no matter how you look at it. For the US to criticize other nations for "corruption" is hypocritical, since it preaches the same thing, only under the guise that it is "legal" and "transparent."

In today's day and age of excessive bail outs and wasted funds, being called the Nation's #1 Earmarks guy is no badge of honor, especially when the White House, Pentagon, etc. have specifically said that it doesn't need the items that good ol' Danny Boy is funnelling money for!

Being in Hawaii or being small is no excuse for why Navatek, Oceanit, etc. should be earmarked funds. If they have the technology and know-how that the Pentagon, etc. wants, guess what, they will get the contract based on merit. Earmarks are an inefficiency in the procurement process, and results in government funds being wasted - no matter how "good" the intentions were.

Danny Boy, you're a dinosaur, and it's time that all politicians be held accountable for the "quid pro quo" system that is no inherent in Hawaii's political culture!

Not only does HE need to go so do just about every elected official who has been in their office longer than 12 years. We need new blood that has been in touch with reality RECENTLY.

Strom Inouye. When he dies and his bio is written his offenses and defalcations will come out. Serial fondler and bottom pincher, bribe taker err campaign contribution taker, fixer and hack. He's holding Hawaii back. Where's the FBI when you need it? Remember he was best buddies with the crooked Senator from Alaska. They made quite a pair.

The company isn't that innovative if it needs a fixed outcome to prevail.

Inouye refused repeated interview requests, and his staff would not disclose how the earmarks were justified.
What else could we expect from the Demoncraps.

I think Sen. Inouye is much smarter than Rep Randall "Duke" Cunningham to get caught and put in jail.

Oh wait, didn't Sen. Inouye direct $135,000,000 to Central Pacific Bank with TARP monies? Did you know he is a director and founder of that Bank that is about to go under?

In a previous article I think it said he had about $700,000 in Central Pacific Bank just as he directed $135,000,000 to stop the hemorraging of the Bank's finances.

Our Country is sinking into the abyss of catastrophic and suffocating debt due to the collective actions of many, and certainly not alleviated by this unethical conduct on the part of Senator Inouye.

This is outrageous. 29K to Inouye, and the s.o.b. is going to direct 2.2 to them, even if they didn't cut it with our US Navy?

I hope the day comes soon enough that we are relieved from the burden of having this decaying symbol of the Hawaii Democrats, meet his maker.

Hawaii's day is coming when Hawaii gets the hind tit when both the Senior Senators from Hawaii become the Junior Senators from Hawaii.

Senator Inouye is the poster child for the practices of earmarks in Congress...a practice that stinks of corruption and should be stopped. President Obama promised no earmarks, allowing earmarks for this year's current budget blaming that the budget was worked out under Bush's term. Well, let's see if Obama will hold to his word when the entire budget is worked out under his term.

Regardless, the excuse that earmarks only makes up a small percentage of the total federal budget is a poor one because it demonstrates that members of Congress have a sense of entitlement and cannot be trusted to effectively manage "small" amounts of taxpayer dollars. Effective, efficient management always begins with handling the small things first.

Also, this is YOUR money, YOUR kids' money, and YOUR grandchildrens', as our country plunges further into debt, that is being spent. We should all be outraged when elected officials, who hold the public trust, do such practices. The practice of earmarks should be done away with. If a program or project cannot stand on its own merit before the full Congress, it should be scrapped.

SB didn't mention the $120 Million bail out for Central Pacific Bank that Inouye got and that he is an investor in that bank. This guy is corrupt to his very core but he will get re-elected. Why doesn't the SB go after Mufi he is more corrupt than Inouye could ever dream of.
