So, someone who kills another person under these circumstances is "not dangerous."

And his mother apologizes to the murdered woman's family "...for how horribly, horribly Kirk handled all of this."

Right! He murdered someone and didn't get away with it.

Like Judge Laulau said,
Mr. Lankfords prison attire will consist of shorts, rubber slippers and a t-shirt that says "Eddie too scared to go". Must be worn everyday except for Fridays, of which he can wear any mu'u mu'u of his choice.
After 50 years,IF Mr. Lankford survives, he will be paroled to Waimanalo and issued more t-shirts with his choice of mu'u mu'u attire on Fridays.

Kitkland murdered and refused to admit it, He is a "dangerous person". Forty years old will kill again, and again, if he releases on parole. He is still young and have a strong urge for young women!!

if someone's irresistible first instinct is to hide a body of someone they are responsible for having killed, that seems to me, anyway, to meet the statutory definition. It is the not seeking medical care that is dangerous. She may have been alive. Lankford wouldn't know. His instinctive actions are what makes him "dangerous" etc. Come on prosecutor get your act together

Why did they give him a break! He did not tell where he hid the body. Since he didn't cooperate-bad move. I would have gone along with the parole if he helped bring closure to the Watanabe family but now we are rewarding him for his lies & deception & not to mention MURDER!

Here we go again, more seething rage and bile from the "mob". It's wonderful to know that a lifetime in prison is not enough for you people.

I'll be there when you break the law, chanting for your death and dismemberment. Calling your family losers for supporting you, and wishing that you get raped by "kimo" and "kaipo" dem.

Could not have said it better. But this is from Hawaiians, so you can't expect much.

I had a dear friend murdered years ago in Indianapolis and the animal who did it got off because they couldn't violate 'his rights' by bringing up his past conviction of other 'manslaughters'.(other meaning 2 others he had killed)

He had more rights than my friend whom he beat beyond recognition before shooting him in the head. My haole pal made the mistake of being in the wrong neighborhood at night.

Justice for the dead is hard to find. And it gets no easier for the living to adjust to that.

Hawaii needs legislation to mandate a lifetime on a chain gang for murdering creeps like this and also for dope pushers. But, of course, life on the chain gang wouldn't amount to much aloha for the criminal...oh well!'Nuff said...

Let this be a lesson to future violaters, it's best to fess up when you do wrong then tell your side of the story when you go to trial. I think there would be more understanding if he would have said from the beginning that he hit her with his truck and that she jumped out of his truck cause she was scared. If, this was really what happened. I don't believe his story and I think he's full of it but if I'm wrong and it really went down that way, then he should have been up front about it.

Another decision that wont' win much support.

You don't need a college educated psychologist or psychiatrist to prove he is a danger to society. Lanford himself has proven that fact over and over. At least I hope he does every minute of 40 years (if he survives that long).

You know "we" talk about harsher penalties and that he should stay in prison for the rest of his life but "we" protest building a larger prison that could be privately run and create jobs so he could stay at least his 40 year minimum. Over crowding is against prisoners' civil rights so let um out as fast as we put um in.

So you're saying you will do exactly what you are condeming.

Maybe you should ask a victim (and their families) of a repeat violent offender if they think he/she should ever be allowed the chance to again victimize society.

And keep in mind the lifetime sentence of the offender's victims and loved ones.

People on this forum are expressing their upset due to the fact that Lankford killed, lied then hid (or whatever he did) to the body. There is no need to resort to degrading Hawaiians. It's just a forum -- lighten up.

We need to open Hawaii prisons in China or Mexico. There it would be much cheaper, could house more inmates for life, and would deter more from committing crimes if they knew that they would never return, or were in a harsh and foreign environment for a long time.

I agree. This kind of racist comments have no place in the forum. Stick to the facts of the case and express your opinion accordingly.

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Sagittarius

It's time to muster all your resources and energies and push through to the next level. The harmony between Mars and Saturn will support your efforts. If you need to dig deeper into shared resources or your credit facilities, now's the time to do so. With careful planning and perhaps family support, you can consolidate and somehow find greater security. This is a calculation not a risk though.
