Taiwan and China are not the same country...you'd serve your readers better to know the difference. China Airlines is based in Taipei, Taiwan and is not a Chinese carrier.

Again we seem to make the same mistake we did with the Japanese visitors. Rely on trickles of foreign visitors. Taiwan is a small country and the traffic base is very limited. The tourism geniuses don't seem to get it. Our market was (I used the term was because we screwed it up)the mainland USA and Canada. Don't hang your hopes on what our clueless politicians and HTA exc are telling us.

Unless we go back to the basics of tourism e.g study and understand what visitors want, no way we are going to get out of this mess, even when the economy recovers.

As I said: "Don't build your hope to high." My guess? Some tourists will come but not nearly enough to compensate for the overdone infrastructures we have built. By the way, did you know that the Prada, Gucci, Luis Vitton are mostly made in China, Taiwan, etc...So, there goes the high class high price shoops. The visitors probably
will try to sell them the items in the shop at half price. So much for the economy.
