Spooky stuff folks... STOP LETTING TRUMP AND ALL THOSE OTHER RICH INVESTORS... AKA: mufi hannamen...*grin... BUILD OVER OUR PRECIOUS LAND!

We all need to buckle up and hang/hold on for the ride. The United States of America has enjoyed many years of domination and excessive spending... taking over other countries and bullying our way into their oil fields.

It appears that they aren't gunna take it anymore. Look at Russia and China dealing with each other in a civil way, after over 50 years... Russia gave China back some of it's border-disputed islands along a very valuable river/waterway.

To spend all these BILLIONS of dollars on a rail system... when our hotel occupancy rates are already down...??

I do not believe that our FEDERAL GOVERNMENT is going to be able to give subsidies to hotels, rail projects, the arts in our schools...

How does this translate to lost tax revenue?

The high arifares are part of the problem.$620 round trip from California? Without Aloha or ATA from Oakand, not much competition. I'll be in Maui next week, but only because I was able to use miles for the airfare.

Go ahead Hawaii and vote socialist this election, go ahead and vote Obama. Tax those middle/upper class vacation travelers. Watch the visitor industry take a dive. Discretionary expenditures (vacation money) will be the first thing that Joe the Plumber will cut back on. And there will be no sugarcane to fall back on. How are you going to pay for all those outrageous home loans when unemployement hits 30 - 60% in the Aloha State? You better wake up and get out the message that Obama's Democratic totally controlled government will personally cause you and your kids to lose your house/rental and you'll likely end up back in your room at mother's house.

Hey, Obama supporters, you are being sold up the river... under a poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal 3/4 of those with assets between $1 and $10 million support McCain... 2/3 of those with assets over $30 million support Obama... So, why is Obama the party of the super rich? Perhaps it is because he proposes taxing people with high incomes instead of rich people. They are not they same. High income people are usually trying to become rich and wealthy people go to great pains to stay on top by investing in things that do not generate taxable income. So, keeping income taxes high will keep the ruling class intact. If Obama was interested in taxing the rich, he would slap an asset tax on them.

Just look at how Obama voted on the recent government bailout. He bailed out the banks (rich people) with all your money. We were told the country was going to immediately fail if the bailout bill didn't pass. Here we are 1 1/2 months later and the money still hasn't been loaned out...

The Federal Reserve (created by JPMorgan & Co on Jekyll Island - get the book) works for the ruling elite. Yet the Democratic Congress feeds off of Bernakes every word. Bernakes job is to make the banking system as much money as possible. Of course he wanted your money, and your Democratic Congress gave it to him and his buddies... Think about the banks like this. Loan out the money. If you get paid back great. If you don't get paid back, cry collapse and get your money back. Either way society pays you a nice fat interest rate.

Democrat voters are so clueless, their leaders tell them they are for the common man, but they then sell them up the river. They get them mad at the "inequality" of a doctor who went $300,000 in debt, went without pay for 10 years, so he could get a high income and then take it away from him because he is "rich". All the while, the truely rich are laughing themselves silly... They take the doctors money, give it to the poor to keep them at bay and charge the doctor interest on his loans that they collect guaranteed...

With tourism in the toilet, all that Hawaii needs now is for (President) Obama to follow through on his promise to slash the military (budget), and with a deluxe rail system the citizens can't afford, it's lights out in Hawaii, and everyone in the bike lane, grass shacks, subsistence farming.

The current crisis we are in? This was a bubble that has been repeatedly reinflated by the Federal Reserve since the end of the stock market boom in early 2000... the Fed then took the stock market bubble and inflated real estate to push off the problem...

I so saw this bubble coming... in mid-1998 I bet a guy that a 7%- 7 year CD would outperform his stock portfolio... of course stocks "always" outperform so he took the bet... And now with a mountain of cash, I am cleaning up... nothing like liberating money from dummies...

As an aside, I do not like Bush, he has a fiscal policy that is of a Democrat (heavy spender), and being a Libertarian I don't like legislating morality. So, he in effect is close to my polar opposite.

Personally, I am hoping for gridlock this election. Republican President with a Democrat controlled legislature. The USA always enacts its worst policies when a single party is in charge.

what you described sounds good to me, especially about slashing military budgets; may be we can get some of our land back that was taken away. military out of Hawaii!!

I got the answer. Let's put some casinos in Waikiki. It's a shame we loose visitors to other gambling cities. Casios will create jobs and bring in more money for Hawaii.
