All animals deserve protection. Yes peacocks make loud noises & **** everywhere, but what's right is right and wrong is SANDRA MAHONEY! There are other things she could have done other than beat this bird to death with a baseball bat.
Please give examples of what she could've done. Sounds like she tried to go through proper channels and was ignored.

I'd hate to be her neighbor. If I set off my car alarm by mistake she might take that baseball bat to my car--or worse, to me. Violent lady.

Granted they are beautiful birds what makes them exempt from other animals like the snakes or other animals Hawaii officials work hard to eradicate? Also with 11 Peacocks that met the same fate in that condominium complex why hasn't the housing association for that condo complex done their job (If I was the woman I'd sue them and have them pay her court expenses)? I can relate to the woman's frustration with the Peacock. She should have bought these instead of taking out the Louisville slugger: http://www.earplugsonline.com/u-snore.html
That's a great idea. She might miss an important telephone call or a call from the neighbor that there is life-threatening fire in the building but, you're right, she won't be able to hear those pesky peacocks pa KAAAAAAAAAwing all day and nite long. She won't hear anything else either but, a great idea. Thanks.

I'm surprised you didn't post a link for blinders too (the horse kine.)

No, it is the Japanese (Hawaii) government who catered to their Japanese friends and family. Then came why, why Waihee who empowered liberal activists. Then it was the Philipino government under Cayetano. There are just too many people here. Hawaii cannot support the entire Philipino population. Now there are Micronesians and the federal appropriations guilt money. Too much. What does this have to do with dead pea fowl?

Perhaps the CIA could incoorporate the use of peacocks in their interrogation techniques of Gitmo prisioners.

What a psycho. Residents of Makaha Valley Towers, lock up your kids and pets from the crazy old lady.
Has this violent senior been psychologically evaluated?
First have her serve her sentence, then send her to Kahi Mohala for some shock therapy or something.

The management should give the animal lovers two weeks from today to capture and remove any pretty peacocks that they want to save and take responsibility for. Let them keep them where they live if they care so much. After the two week grace period, poison or shoot the remaining animals and be done with them once and for all. It was a bad idea to bring them and a bad idea to let them multiply. They are nothing but invasive pests.

Makaha VT had people shoot them with arrow's. The Peacock's are a real pest. She should of plucked the feathers off then deep fried it. No law against killing a chicken and eating. Should be the same for any bird.

I could understand this lady's dilemma. Once a peacock showed up in my front yard and the thing made such a loud irritating (clucking) noise. Then it flew on top of my car port and those flapping wings was LOUD! Now imagine having 50 of those peacocks 24/7! The humane society should've intervened and done something about it. Sleep deprivation can cause temporary insanity which happened with her. Yes, peacocks are non native birds. People have a right to a peaceful and quiet environment. Jail time for her? No don't think so. Are these birds good for eating? LOL

Do you move to Hawaii to change the ways of the Hawaiian culture or do you change to adapt to it?
This is a moral issue that needs to be addressed by all non-residents who decide to move to Hawaii.....and this includes adapting to cultural practices like burning fireworks on new years eves once a year.
Peacocks are not a part of "Hawaiian culture." They are an introduced pest, ironically probably brought in to help create some non-Hawaiian's idealized vision of what this "tropical paradise" should be like.

I don't like cruelty to animals, but only wish that she had used a more humane way of achieving her goal. From what I've heard, peacocks can drive you nuts with their screeching, not to mention their massive poops all over.

I'd like to get a few and turn them loose in my neighborhood. I have noisy neighbors and I think they will realize they are making too much noise on royal palm drive in wahiawa.

Watch out for older whites with money, they can get violent. They move in and think they own the valley. Us locals on the west side just kick back and drink. They go coo coo sometimes. Prosecute, prosecute and convict.

With Mars and Saturn working in harmony, you'll find the support you need through friends or associates. Someone pitches in to help which will let you take a concrete step towards achieving your goals. There could however be a cost in terms of your emotional and domestic life because of what you're doing. Has responsibility taken you away from those you're close to? Try to make things up in another way.
